I thought the movie was great, really showed the difference between Stark and Rogers. Stark was lost to primal rage when he saw the video and at the end of the fight with Rogers, he puts his hands up to protect his face. He thought Rogers was going to kill him, proving he didn't know him that well.

Stark had hacked into Shields files many times though. He easily could have had that information on Bucky as well.

I havent read the whole thread, but I watched it last night and thought it was awesome. It makes me even more mad at zack synder and that abortion that was BVS after watching this movie. I am not a comic book reader so I have a couple of questions for the comic book readers in this thread.

1. Does Captain America age? I know he was asleep for all those years but I didnt know if it was because of that or the serum made him ageless.

2. Does this civil war timeline actually occur in the comics or is this a made up story line for the movie? The same with Batman V Superman. Do they actually fight each other in the comics?

So the question is...how/when did Steve find this out? This was 1991 so it was pre-thaw. Am I forgetting a scene somewhere in an alternate movie where Cap finds out that Tony's parents were murdered...maybe some briefing from SHIELD or something? That was the one this that didn;t resonate with me, so I'm assuming this was alluded to at some point and I've blanked.

Anyone know how Steve knew Tony's parents had been murdered...even of he didn't know it had been Bucky?

It was in WS when Cap and Black Window were down in the Hydra bunker. Some of the clippings Zola flashed across the screen implied that the Starks had been assassinated and that the Winter Soldier did it.

That's what I concluded. Didn't think about the file BW gave him at the end of WS, but I suspect that is correct. As the video was being shown, they showed both their faces. Tony was horrified and Steve was unmoved. He knew what it was and was going to be.

A version of Civil War occurs in the comics. The premise is somewhat different but the concept/spirit of the movie is very similar

Good catch...didn't remember seeing that.

So...if it heavily implied Bucky had done the deed, did Steve essentially lie to Tony when he answered that he didn't know it was him? Wouldn't a more honest answer have been, he wasn't sure it was him or he was hoping it wasn't him?

I can still side with Steve if he was going with he was trying to spare Tony by not telling him about their deaths, but if he ALSO basically knew it was at the hands of his friend it feels more self serving than being about Tony's feelings...and at that point I'd tend to fall in line with Tony at least in regards to his feelings towards Cap's protection of Bucky...even if Bucky had been brain washed.

Why? What was the point of the movie if the end result is still the same?

As others have already said, it's not the same, but I wanted to point something out.

When Cap, Bucky and Iron Man go to the bunker, I expected them to fight the bad guys, win and be best buds after. That's what we expect from watching previous Marvel movies. But that's not what happened. From the previews, you could tell that the 3 of them were going to fight each other there. I figured maybe Bucky would get brainwashed again and that's why they were fighting. Did not see what was coming.

My thoughts were probably the same as Cap's when he saw the video. The second it started playing I went "oh shite, that's why they kept showing us Bucky crashing that car but never showed us who was in it."
I don't blame Iron Man for doing what he did out of rage, and I think like Black Panther, he'll come to realize what he did was wrong and was purely out of rage and misplaced vengeance.

But that ending was not the ending most casual movie watchers expected.

When I asked my 4 year old what his favorite part of the movie was he said Spiderman obviously, and then he said, "when Captain America killed Iron Man". and he chose to wear an Iron Man shirt to the movies, and even he knew Iron Man is wrong.

Are we to assume the villain in the movie Injected himself with winter soldier serum?

Weren't all of the serums from Poppa Stark's car used for the other 5 Winter Soldiers?

I have an answer for the camera.

The Winter Soldier or Hydra put it there as proof of completing his mission. Recall he was sitting in a pre-planned (very specific) spot in the woods waiting on the Starks to pass. He waits a sec, then knocks them off the road - right in view of the camera (may have been his or pre-placed by Hydra because they knew the route and were monitoring his mission).

He kills them on camera and dumps the bodies - and uses the footage for his...

It really wasn't until reading this thread that it dawned on me why that scene hit me so hard...and that's exactly why. I was expecting the show down with Team Winter Soldier and I'd have been fine with that even though it would have been predictable based on what they laid out. When it went the other way, got VERY intimate and grim was what sold the entire thing for me. Just the quietness and calmness of Bucky and Cap having to stand there and watch Tony WATCH Bucky murder his parents brutally...watching RDJ tear up (you could hear pockets of adult men in the theater I was in mumbling "Oh shite...")...fantastic.

I even loved the letter at the end...Steve not wanting to let Tony wallow in his hate for him. Still trying to explain but allowing Tony to be pissed and grieve in his own way. Wanting to fix it all...

I don't think Cap is ageless no. I just think he ages at a slower rate than others because of the serum.

My guess is that he didn't have any concrete proof (thus, the first "no" answer) but highly suspected it was Bucky, so he changed his answer when asked again.

This movie was so fricking good. I feel for both sides.

And Paul Rudd needs more scenes in upcoming Avenger movies. He fricking killed it. Jeremy Renner too. It's amazing to me how good this movie is compared to how shitty BVS was

I thought the same at the Movie Tavern. I was thinking "I guess that's why I love IMAX so much, for the sound"

Yeah if Evans re signs I'd love to see another Cap movie.

I think all he has left on his contract are the two remaining Infinity War movies. IIRC he's stated in interviews before that once his contract is up he's done with acting and going to focus mainly on directing.

No more Cap

I thought that information came from the Hydra files.....isn't that who Zemo approached for the information in the movie? Wasn't everything SHIELD lost or made public in Winter Soldier?
