Curt Schilling: ESPN hates conservatives and employs biggest racists in media

quote:
“It was apparent to me early on that if you wanted to go off topic as a sports person you had to go off topic left, or you were going to get in trouble.”
“Some of the most racist things I’ve ever heard have come out of people that are on the air at ESPN. They’re some of the biggest racists in sports commentating.”
Asked to clarify his remarks after the show, which was recorded before a live audience at SiriusXM headquarters in Manhattan, Schilling said, “The memo that was sent out more than once was about they wanted on air-talent to focus on sports. To me that means focus on sports unless you want to talk about something that is part of the liberal agenda.
Schilling points to several specific instances that he believes support his claims. That includes one involving Stephen A. Smith, who was in the baseball news cycle on Wednesday after raising the ire of Jake Arrieta.
“You listen to Stephen A. Smith, and Stephen A. Smith was the guy who said that Robert Griffin didn’t play quarterback for the Redskins because he’s black. No, Robert Griffin didn’t play quarterback for the Redskins because he [stunk]."
"Tony Kornheiser compared the Tea Party to ISIS. I don’t know any planet where those are sports topics. But I don’t care. It’s OK. I think those conversations need to happen. But as soon as you go to the flip side, the right side, there are repercussions for not talking about sports

ESPN has displayed a pretty big double standard. It's enjoyable to watch them slowly collapse.

if he doens't like the way espn conducts business, he should have left and started his own company...and bankrupted that one too.

If Schilling wasn't such an annoying know-it-all (his open letters to people), he may have a point. But even this recent incident and his political views aside, he was just plain insufferable.

He's absolutely correct about the hypocrisy ESPN has shown.
And I'm not a Curt Schilling fan or hater. Guy doesn't move the needle for me in the slightest.
Nor do I hate ESPN. But what Curt said is exactly what I've observed.

Schilling is such a dumbass. Does he think he's the only conservative working at ESPN? He basically dared ESPN to fire him. Knowing him he probably needed the severance.

Go bankrupt another business, a-hole. And frick you for making me side with ESPN.

Exactly. This is why I can't stand ESPN and stopped watching (other than live events)

Screw Kornheiser

It's the same with all media.
Bob Costas has gone on liberal tangents several times on air at NBC during the NFL pregame, and it was a-okay. I believe it was things like anti-gun rants and pro universal healthcare speeches.
Imagine if he gave on-air speeches about pro 2nd amendment topics or pro-conservative topics.
I think I would be completely shocked if someone like that started preaching about pro-conservative values. Imagine if he did that and the rest of the media agreed with him and wrote stories about how they agree with him on his pro 2nd amendment stance or pro-life stance.
It would feel like the world flipped upside down.

Anybody with half a brain sees the double standard.
That being said, Curt knew that going in, and still pushed the envelope.

He's such a douche but he's correct.

So it is possible for someone to be right, and also at the same time a complete idiot.
