This. Tell the wife to give you more sex when you think you want a beer instead.

But really, excesses are like assholes, everybody has one. By drinking NA beer, you are falling back into the trap.

NA beer has a little bit of alcohol in it

So does orange juice and practically ever other processed drink. I don't think that's the issue so much as lowering the bar and making it a little easier to move on the the real thing. OP, it's a decision only you can make, but if sobriety is important to you, it seems like you're taking a big chance.

I think we need to know more about OP's addiction to alcohol. Not every person addicted to alcohol is going to sell their children and live in a mobile home after drinking one NA beer.

Good question. I haven't asked them. Guess I'm afraid of what they will say.

So you are looking for someone here to tell you it's OK? If it was important enough for you to quit, it's important enough to stick with it.

Good luck.

BAw, First off Congrats on 4 months of sobriety if that is something that was truly needed (and you wanted).

2nd, everyone is different so no way to tell if the O'douls is a bad idea/slip slop, or not.

3rd, frick drinking the NA beer if it pisses off your wife. Seriously, learn to pick your battles.

If you are an alcoholic/addict the last thing you need is extra drama in your life, because I can guarantee you've already had your fair share. So Bro, why add ANY extra bullshite fights to the mix if you can avoid them.... Over a fricking O'douls? Really?...

If you like your wife, don't drink it. Shitty na beer isn't worth arguing with her over.

You're rationalizing IMO.

Is she being unfair?

Not really. How much did your drinking affect your relationship? Is the taste of beer, better yet, the taste of a some pussy arse non-alcoholic beer, worth it? relationship?

Am I on a slippery slope to relapsing?

deep down you knwo the answer.

Has anyone here or people you've known quit drinking and been able to drink NA beer without falling off the wagon?

I don't really get the point. It's like setting a mood to smoke a joint. Put on some jam, dim the lights, hit the recliner, sit back and smoke a cigarette.

its bigger than that. For DDs its nice to have a drink in hand. And there are social situations like at work where you will get pressure to drink but maybe you don't want to.

I stopped drinking in March,2015. I drink an O'Doul's every now and then and really have no desire to drink a real beer.

Im going on a year sober. Went to a pretty respected rehab facility, learned alot about the science of addiction. One of the triggers is taste and smell. If you have been able to have na beer and not have ANY desires, flashbacks, thoughts of drinking, then you may be ok. True it does have a touch of alcohol in it, I choose not to chance it, same as many cold meds, etc.. You are still in early recovery, so be careful. It takes a strong person to stay sober, relapse is VERY common. Keep up the good work, and if the wife is part of your support system, you may want to respect her thoughts, as an addict, our decisions aren't always the best.
