If you go to these fricked up places you are asking for trouble in the first place. I'd never go to N. Korea, unless it was a paid vacation courtesy of the U.S. Army with 100,000 of my closest friends.

Some places should be avoided. I guess he's figuring that out the hard way. A lot of people think everywhere in the world is so beautiful and awesome, and the US is garbage. They have no idea how the rest of the world works. Now he knows

C'mon man. He's an idiot for doing what he did, and even going to North Korea. But this is fricked. I pretty much wish death on anybody responsible for those laws and shite over there.

This kid stole a stupid sign or whatever, and will now be slowly tortured to death.

Yep. I don't disagree, what he did was horribly stupid. I just don't get why it's soooooo cool to have no sympathy for people, I really think it speaks to unhappiness in people's own lives and they're just conditioned to have everything, if I may get deep for a second

You have to be a complete fool to even be in North korea. They literally need zero reason to imprison you. You have no rights and as a westerner you provide a nice political chip

Seriously, sounds like he just wanted something to bring home from the experience. While stupid, he does't deserve 15 years in what may be the worst prison system on the planet.

We don't give this country millions of dollars in aid and food to lock our tourist up for BS.

Anyone who actually thinks that he was paid thousands of dollars by a US church by which he has no affiliation to steal a sign from NK is pretty dumb, IMHO.

Just start raping all of the handicapped prisoners and dwarfs as soon as you get there. That kid would probably be 2 feet taller than anybody in that place. NK prison camp, you have a new shot caller

He better gulp up every drop of water on that table. It's the last water he will see that wont give him the shits. Until he acclimates.

Why people think their experience will be any different is amazing. Why go where EVEYBODY has been taught their whole life to hate you? They live in squalor and have been told it is because of America. If we are to believe only half of what is reported conditions and craziness are in NK, why would you ever find yourself near it?

Feel as bad for him as I do for a guy drunk and doing 150mph on a crotch rocket then crashing into a bridge support.

That could definitely be true. Misery loves company.

I'm not opposed to making this guy spend some time in jail in the states. 6 months, a year, whatever. Have him work for a charity, idk. But, we need to get him. Or at least feel bad for him

Nope. I disagree. Stolen from this website. Somebody said there is a way the world is and the way you think it should be. If you confuse the two to this guys degree? Enjoy hard labor. Were he vacationing in Thailand on a beach in Phucket and North Korean spies kidnapped him or something else outrageous, then I would be outraged.

How many Americans went to the USSR in 1972 to vacation and stir up shite?

Of course, I just don't think that has anything at all to do with my comment.

I'm guessing if your best friend, mother/father, brother, child or whoever did something stupid like drinking and driving, and they crashed and died, you'd feel pretty bad and have a completely different view on this, and you'd also probably not have the same take if someone said they were stupid and felt no symathy for them. Could be wrong on you specifically, but i'm guessing for all the posters with "no sympathy", that comment is spot on for the vast majority of them.
