It's good to take precautions I remember a tale of when LSU didn't heed the weather warnings.
Years ago a young man on the way to LSU during a snow storm almost "fall out of a bridge"

Yeah I slid right into my parking spot and took pics of Mike in the snow before going to study at the Library before a test. Fun morning to be in a shitty beater car.

The risk of basically having to do this to protect students as well as travel risks coupled with the already mentioned "inclement weather" days built in is why school is canceled almost universally for risks like this.
Use the days or lose them, and one wrecked bus could warrant enough lawsuits to sink a school system.

I hydroplaned and slid through 6 lanes of traffic over a curb into an abandoned field. Thank god the cars saw me coming or I would have been a goner.

I put the odds of LSU closing at 5%

LSU make these decisions on the idea that everyone lives on campus or just off campus. So yeah, they won't close unless a tornado hits campus and not until after it hits. After all, nobody travels to campus.

My sons day care is closed. Off to grandmas he goes.

I feel bad for the parents who have to take a day off because of this shite. Suck it up school board (s) and just leave schools open.

So I'm trying to decide if I should cancel my work trip to Shreveport tomorrow in anticipation that 1) my kid's daycare closes? 2) I don't wanna drive in a bunch of sheetshow weather tomorrow.

St. Tammany will be open for business if I had to guess. We will probably go half of a day and then send the students home.

We'll have class until noon, that I'm basically certain of. Afternoon classes are a bit more up in the air.

This is a fricking joke. Our daycare closed after 8 tonight and I'm left scrambling looking for a babysitter. This is a reason why Louisiana is at the bottom of the list when it comes to education.

I remember that. It was during finals. Driving on ice with no sleep was fun.

I wish it was that easy, but it isn't.
