re: How much do you pay for health insurance?

I know several people that paid for insurance through healthcare.gov last year with the help of subsidies that no longer qualify for it because most employers have to offer it or pay a fine. If the employer plan meets the standards of the federal government then you probably aren't going to qualify those subsidies anymore. These people are now stuck because they can't afford either policy and now they get to pay a penalty at the end of the year, all the while with no insurance.

is that you'll never actually be able to use your health insurance unless you get in a head on collision or something.
It is pretty much major medical. I had my knee scoped in October which hit my deductible so I scheduled my colonoscopy in November to take advantage. So I feel like Santa Claus gave me a free colonoscopy for Christmas.

Colonoscopy wasn't covered under preventative? Mine was free because of that

I pay $140 a month through my employer. It used to be $60 through my last employer :/
My parents own a business and they bought obamacare. They pay $1200 a month for 3. The deductable is $13000. Pretty fricking ridiculous

It's insane. Basic healthcare can cost the same as a mortgage

You again?? Please explain how health insurance is a racket?

Mother fricker.
I would be living in a garbage can if I had to pay that.
It guts me to cut that check every month, and as you can see, others have it worse than I do.

It has become absolutely absurd. My wife's job is being changed from full time to part time because of health insurance costs. So now we have to change plans. Going to cost around $700 a month plus the decrease in her income. Thanks Obama!

I pay $550/month
Family Coverage
$1000 deductible
$3000 max out of pocket
With 3 kids (5,13,16)
I am way ahead considering my last child had a 28 day NICU stay totaling almost $500k for all bills and I only had to pay $4000.
ETA: THis includes vision and dental

Individual policy
Family of 5
5600 ded (everything goes to this one ded)
80/20 once ded met
$850 per month.
We are grandfathered in which I still don't know exactly what it protects us from but if we change anything at all (ded, coins) we lose the gf status. Can't afford much more.
And it IS higher than our house note.

$250/month. Family of 5. No deductible. He should go work at Walmart for the insurance.

That's WAY more than my mortgage payment on a nice house.
now I feel really bad for complaining about my job earlier this week. That's HORRIBLE. How are y'all supporting those ignorantly high premiums? And then you've still got to keep at least $5k on the side to support the deductible. That would set my entire life back to zero and I'd probably come out ahead being unemployed and homeless.

$464 per month total cost. My portion is $55 per month. BCBS high deductible $2000 single/$4000 family but I only cover myself.

260 a month through my employer. BCBS with no deductible. My wife pays for a few add ons through her job on the cheap. Not a bad deal for a family of four.
