How much do you pay for health insurance?

So I’m helping a relative who was recently laid off and looking at medical insurance options in BR. Essentially the cheapest plan per healthcare.gov is a BCBS policy that $447 something a month and has a $13,500 family deductible, $4,500/person. From what I can tell pays nothing until deductible is met. So you pay $447/month for the right to pay full price.
I complained about mine but at least it had a copay. I feel for him. My policy sucks but this is outrageous as a society that one is forced to pay nearly $500/month for basically catastrophic coverage. If you make $50k/year, you are forced to pay basically 40% of your income to federal taxes and healthcare, assuming you use it. This is just terrible policy.

healthcare.gov is a disgrace, I have known people that looked into it and it was double what they were paying.

But the info in it would also be for anyone self employed, correct? So if you own your own small business these shitty choices are your option? $450/month for no coverage? That's just terrible.

Won't say what I pay but I am double covered, I usually use the VA for routine stuff, but for more serious stuff I used the company plan, I am one of those that make up for the frequent travelers because I have only used mine twice in two years.

eta: HDHP, so no copay. Out of pocket until deductible is met, which I use my HSA for.

I don't pay anything monthly. I don't know the details but I occasionally have a small copay for meds or DR visits.

Mine is around 600 a month. I pay 120ish, company pays the rest. Good insurance though.

You are reading it wrong. They still only pay the copay amount before they reach the deductible.

Also what was nice is I think we paid a total of $125 for the entire process of delivering our child 6 months ago.
One of my wife's friends has a baby at the same time and she said it cost them around 3K out of pocket. We feel very lucky to have what we have

I feel for you Chunky, that is a terrible policy for that amount of money. Basically the gov is going in dry. I am retired Air Force so we pay $0 (wife and I) with a $300 deductible and 80/20 after that. We will be paying $228 a month for our youngest daughter while she is still in college when she turns 23 this summer. All in all not bad.
