What you're missing is that he was the best at his position for not just one year, but several... he didn't become Megatron by being above average
Not really. He was the best from 2011 to 2013. He only led the league in receiving twice. Same as andre johnson

Detroit sucks the will out of GOATs.
Barry was/is the GOAT and he walked away.
Calvin ain't the GOAT, but possibly could have been given another 5 years on a good team.
I hope he comes back for a contender and sets a trend. Guys can step away when a franchise is that atrocious and come back a year later with whoever they want.
Never hear a word about the guy? Is he a knucklehead at all? Ton of kids? Where does he "retire" to? Where is he from?

#1 WR is Jerry Rice. that's not a true statement

What is surprising is Calvin only had 100 catches in 1 year of his 9 year career.

Barry wasn't even the best 20 in Detroit history. Jim Brown is the GOAT though.

After. 5 years he'd still be behind people named Rice, Owens, Moss, and Brown.

Think about this... he's the only guy in the NFL you would throw an end zone fade to

Said someone who has never played professional sports. Such a moronic statement.

Damn, I heard earlier in the season that he was interested in going to Carolina in 2016.
Smart move though IMO. No reason to hobble your body and mind completely when you're already set for life and going to be remembered as one of the best ever at your position.

CJ is 11276 yards behind Rice, career-wise
that's 2255.20 yards per year over 5 years

He had a good career. He shouldn't have made the Pro Bowl this year or last year though.

What if he played another 12 seasons and finished with 21 seasons like Rice though???
Posted on 1/31/16 at 6:56 pm to tduecen
he's already slowing down hardcore so that's very unlikely
that's one thing that made rice so magical
pretty sure rice was putting up 1k seasons in seattle as a 40 year old

He's 27th in yards, 22nd in TDs, 43rd in receptions. No rings, no playoff wins.
I looked at the list for yards and TDs. A couple more seasons and he shoots up those lists....
It's a little tricky....HOF talent....didn't amass the stats though. Voters could extrapolate I guess.

His last one came at 40, but from 37-38 he only had 800 yards each year

Rice had Montana and Young. Nothing like that in Detroit.

in 2002 he was 40 with a 1200 yarder
and it was OAK not SEA. that's my b

Calvin Johnson is a Hall of Famer for me, no doubt. If you have shitbirds like Joe Namath in the Hall, you must have one of the GOAT receivers in there.
