A navy blue Avalon with black TRD wheels is one of the best-looking cars on the road today.

Sonata. I rented one recently very nice car

Because spending over 30k on a Chrysler or Chevy sedan is a stupid decision.

Toyota Avalon for that budget.

I love how I mention charger and impala
Two of the worst vehicles in production for reliability.

The new Impala really is a good car. I've owned mine for a year with zero issues (so far). Plenty of compliments with it too.
I would go for one with a backup camera. It also has a massive trunk which is good for vacations.

Fully loaded charger SXT or decent optioned RT if she wants a v8.
Chrysler 300c
The Chevy Impala LT can be had for that price but you might consider it full sized
The Chevy Malibu LTZ(fully loaded for right at 32
As a car salesman for over 10 years. This is a list full of garbage. The only one on this post that I would ever let any of my family members even consider would be an Impala.

You can get the most loaded out Hyundai Sonata for ~$30k (or less if you negotiate well). By far the best midsize for the money

Accord
for these others, check out the buying guide, consumers reports to see what they have to say about them.

Good choice. Would also consider
Maxima
To save a little money you could go with the loaded versions of Camry, Altima, Accord, or Impala. Loaded Fusions are nice but only go with the 2.0 Ecoboost.

I'd probably buy her a VW.
I drive a passat. They are good cars but expensive to maintain. A lot of mechanics don't work on them and the one's who do want to charge more per hour. Parts can be a hassle to get too. I usually order from the internet since the dealership will rape you on price. $20 for a gallon of coolant. All in all I like my VW but the next vehicle I get will not be a VW or any other european vehicle for that matter.

Mazda 6
You can get one completely loaded out for 30k
Definitely NOT Chrysler/Dodge

I'm on my third V6 Camry. Great cars. Never had a mechanical problem.

Bought the wife a 2015 V6 EX-L Accord like this 4 months ago and she loves it. We also have a 2005 Accord that we have had for the last ten years with no problems.

For that price be could get an Azera a step above the Sonata and a really nice car.

Love my Passat.
Best mid sized car for its money on the market esp. the TDI.
The only reason we are hearing about the emision bs is the car was scaring the shite out of everyone else. Great space, well built and 45+ mpg. Fuel aint gonna stay at sub $2.00 for long.
When the warranty expires on the wifes TDI it will be going to Kerma, it is going to pump out pollution like a paper mill after that but get 60+ mpg and even better performance.
To the other poster, you are a dipshit if you are ordering VW coolant at $20 per USG. Every single manufacturer recomends using their own products, no one does however
