Living in the same neighborhood doesn't necessarily mean "next doir". University Club has some cheap houses too. Subtle brag attempt failed.

So a guy who has been a public servant his entire adult life and made $130k a year just bought a $817k house?

I loved getting deliveries to those places when I worked for Hungry Howie's sophomore year. Rich white people tend to overtip.

$800k will generally buy a decent single family home here but not an impressive one.

He made $130K/yr as governor and $174K/yr as a congressman. Supriya is the head of the non-profit Jindal Foundation, which can't pay THAT much. How much was she pulling down as a ChemE at Abermarle? Surely it wasn't $350k+.

All of this to say, if your mortgage is supposed to be no more than 2.5x your annual salary, how did Jindal get the scratch, legitimately, for an $817,000 house? Hell, he'd have to have almost a year's salary in cash just to close with a regular mortgage.

Gonna rattle the cage of some folks that moved out there to get away from those pesky, good-for-nothing minorities.

He has a vacation home in Iowa and spends most of his time there.
