Maybe I am spoiled by growing up in Houston and living here as an adult by Shipleys but why the hell are they so popular?

The donuts are crap. Kolaches are small and not so great. Breakfast sandwiches are decent. I don't drink coffee so maybe thats it.

Dunkin Donuts makes most of their money off of coffee nowadays. The rest is just extra.

why is mcdonalds popular? Or chili's?

It's a quick and easy stop to get some coffee and breakfast. Is it that mindblowing that people like it?

Their coffee is garbage. Even just black it tastes like they have put sugar in it.

They used to be good 10-15 years ago when they made the donuts fresh. Now they ship them frozen. They are popular because it's the only donut some people had. So once their quality went to shite, people still go because it's too hard for people to change routines.

New England worships DD, it's very weird.

I will say that not all DDs are the same. I think some have frozen donuts and some make their own, I've certainly seen wide swings in quality in my handful of visits.

Agree Shipleys has better donuts, so do many other places. However, DD has really great coffee and their other stuff isn't terrible. And when you compare it to Starbucks it appears that much better.

But dunkin donuts really sucks, not like McDonald's or chills. The donuts are really horrible, I am a big fan of Tim hortons, wish bk would bring them down south.

Dunkin Donuts was a struggling brand when they invested in their coffee product. When their success took off, other brands, such as McDonalds, also joined the fray.

That's why DD is where its at today, not because of their pastries.
