There are much better coffees available for the same price on Amazon IMO, but I imagine you probably could get a little more flavor at home.

They used to be good 10-15 years ago when they made the donuts fresh. Now they ship them frozen. They are popular because it's the only donut some people had. So once their quality went to shite, people still go because it's too hard for people to change routines

This. DD is huge in the Northeast. And you're right, they're donuts aren't very good. The only semi-redeeming quality about the donuts is they usually have a pretty large variety of flavors. The coffee is where DD makes their mark. That, and some of the breakfast sandwiches are pretty good.

They have good coffee. The main reason I go there is their hours. I usually don't go for a donut until the evening, around seven or so,and not many donut places are open then. I usually prefer smaller local shops, but they usually close much earlier than that.

Which is better than most Starbucks varieties. I don't drink either often, but if you're getting a convenient cup of black coffee on the go, dd > Starbucks.

I would take Starbucks veranda or Pike over DD, but I do like the dark roast.

Pre dark roast at DD I would get a shot of espresso in their standard coffee.

We don't have much in the way of local donuts in Atlanta. A few good ones, but not like Dallas where there is a donut shop every half mile.

I will say that those local donut shops frequently have garbage coffee. Gas station quality.

I disagree, but those are the two I most often get at Starbucks.

I don't why anyone would eat anything other than Krispy kreme

There are places much better than Krispy Kreme. At least the Krispy Kreme that used to be on Siegen in BR (only place I've ever gotten them straight from the store). I'm in Houston now and there is a Shipley's on every corner. Better than your average donut, but it's nothing fantastic. Still the best donut I've ever had is from Mr. Ronnie's in Houma.

Starbucks coffee is awful. Its the great hoodwink of our generation. It tastes burnt.

I don't get it either. I'm by no means a coffee-maven, but Starbucks taste like burnt-cigarettes to me. That said, what a great marketing campaign they have waged over the last 25 years. People will drink their garbage just so they can be seen in or with a Starbucks cup. It is truly incredible. I know people who don't even really like coffee who go to Starbucks pretty regularly just for the "status".

Their coffee is above average. That's it. The food is terrible. Donuts are awful. Most everything is about the same quality as what you'd pop in the microwave at home from your freezer.

Up north it's more popular and they are everywhere, it's more of kiosk thing rather than a separate store like you find down here.

I grew up in the northeast and I loved DD. When I moved to Louisiana it was one thing that I missed. When I found out there was a location on Vets I used to stop anytime I was in the area to pick up a dozen.

Then, just like Pizza Hut, they decided to sacrifice quality for the almighty dollar, and they switched to frozen dough as opposed to fresh. Now, the dough is shipped in, and they just stick the frozen donuts in a proofer for a little while. The quality is garbage and therefore I no longer eat there.

I can't even eat donuts from the BR location. Their donuts are like bricks. Every time I eat one I feel like I've swallowed a lead weight. I've never eaten such a heavy donut.

Best I've had are at Shipley in Bunkie.

Growing up in the 70's, the only local donut choices were glazed and chocolate covered.

It was always a big deal to go visit my grandmother in BR which had a DD, because it was just awesome (as a kid) to see the 50 different kinds of donuts they had.

I agree that the donuts do not taste that great. Give me Meche's any day of the week.

I loved the assortment of donut holes...but probably only had them 3-4x as a kid.

I grew up on fast food. Every night was either McDonald's, KFC, Taco Bell, Wendy's, or Burger King. Luckily, I had the genes and the physical activity (year round sports) to not be obese as a result.

A Dunkin Donuts opened up relatively close by. I've been there maybe twice. I made the mistake of getting a breakfast sandwich there. It was the most foul thing I have ever tasted in my life. It was clearly not food. It had the consistency of vomit. I haven't been back since then.

Dunkin Donuts must make CC's quality coffee if people still go there.

The fact they don't let you mix in your own half&half bothers me. I was incredibly disappointing when I ordered a regular coffee and it ended up being more cream than coffee. The donuts are fine.

These are the GOAT
