IF the Golden Era of LSU football is truly over, did we ever enjoy it?

From 2000 to 2015, LSU football has won the following:
2 National Titles
4 SEC Titles
5 SEC West Titles
7 Top 10 Finishes
9 double digit win seasons
161 Wins
There is no doubt that is the best 15 year stretch in LSU football history. We have been at near elite level for as long as we have ever been. With back to back seasons of being a mid level SEC team, this run is in jeopardy of ending.
Which leads me to the question: During this run, did we really enjoy it? Or were we always so afraid it might end we never had the fun we should have?
It seems the negative voices are growing louder and louder. Its time SOMETHING changes in our program. And when it does, lets be sure to enjoy the ride.

Some of us did. Myself included, I was fortunate to be around for that run and for Skips run and Daddy Dales and feel it will never be duplicated

excellent question...
To me, it's a lot like the enjoyment of a movie--expectations driven. over the years some of the most enjoyable, individual games have been during so so years and some of the more enjoyable seasons have been where we exceeded expectations but didn't win it all. Don't get me wrong, 2007 and to a lesser extent 2003 (due to personal stuff going on) were wonderful, but the question is valid and something I've thought of since we won it all in 03.

I would say I enjoyed it until sometime in 2013. Not sure when exactly but that's when the frustration and disappointment began to overtake the fun.

2000, 2001, 2003, 2007, 2011 were all great years. I think many people enjoyed it while it was going on, but most think it should still be going on with the talent we have. Problem many people have (including myself) is the product that we are seeing on the field. It's painful to watch LSU on offense a lot of times. 2012, 2014, and 2015 have all been sub-par.

Yes at the time but it is probably over.

It correlated with my age from 19-34...including a national title my senior year of college(5th year). I had an away from Tiger stadium record of 14-4 which including ole miss 2003, ncg 2003, 2007 sugar bowl, then SECCG and another ncg in 2008, a trip to Seattle and Athens in 2009, two Jerry's world wins in 2011, another SECCG win against UGA, and a road win in college station in 2012. I haven't been to a road game since then and only a handful of home games. So yea it was a blast. Some of the fire is gone for me though. Getting a little older, not being able to party as hard and general apathy has made it not the same. Maybe that will change, but I kind of doubt it. It was a fun decade and a half though.

Nope. Bitched and whined all the way through

Agree. I've always enjoyed watching and cheering g for LSU, and have always watched every game beginning to end. I'm not sure what it was, but in the past couple of seasons I would actually quit watching some of the games all the way. This year was probably the worst. It's been really painful watching some of these games go down the way they did. It's just not good football. I hope things turn around. The golden era of Tiger football and even baseball have been fantastic to witness. I would hate to see it come to an end because of coaching ignorance. Come on coach. Figure that shite out

If you didn't enjoy the 2011 season while it was happening then you will never enjoy watching LSU football. Outside of that year there have been ups and downs but i will say overall if this is the end then it was a fun ride and I would do it again if I had the choice.

I laughed.
I cried.
It moved me, Bob.

I understand the frustrations. But did the frustration block the majority of our fanbase from seeing that this was our best?

I enjoyed winning. But these last couple of years have made the past easier to forget. I should have enjoyed it more for sure.

Celebrating two national championships, multiple SEC championships and other huge wins with my dad, brother and other close friends(one who isn't with us any longer) are memories that I will have for the rest of my life. Hopefully more celebrations will happen, but I am grateful for ones we had during this run.

Well, more accurately it was 2001-2011. I enjoyed the hell out of that run.
But any rational fan will admit the last 4 years have been very disappointing. Failure to sustain a high level of play, given the great success of the prior 10 years, has been very frustrating.

Ages 12-27 for me.
I enjoyed the hell out of it. We need fresh blood if we're going to continue momentum and have another one.

We are better than 7 teams in the east, and 3 teams in the west without an argument.
So if you want to include Arkansas sure, but they are a 7-5 team. Beating us doesn't make them good.
There are 2 teams i would say are better than us in the SEC. I don't think we are middle their at all
