Billick was a fraud anyway. Offensive-minded coach who went a whole month without scoring a TD with Jamal Lewis and Priest Holmes.

Every part of that is dumb

He's 84-55 as a head coach and would still have two NFC championship game appearances. Simmons goes full tard from time to time

All the time really. He knows almost nothing about the NFL outside of the Pats.

Also Bill Simmons makes a good point about him being an overrated coach.
I made a thread about him being overrated a few years ago and got shite on Ingram would have 4 Pro Bowls if it weren't for Payton

Priest Holmes wasn't on that team was he? I knew Tony Banks was the starting QB though.

I'm surprised nobody has linked Sean Payton to Texas yet. They're one of the few places that can afford him plus he gets to stay in his beloved Texas.

Before Sean Payton's suspension in 2012

Since he became a head coach in 2006 with the Saints, NO OTHER COACH IN ALL OF THE ENTIRE NFL had more wins than he did.

None. Not even BB.

That whole Bounty gate BS really did ruin the Saints, the suspensions and time off.. the Saints never truly recovered.. although he did have them win a playoff game since..

So yeah from 2006-2012 Sean Payton had more wins than any other coach in the NFL.. and that is building up the SAINTS franchise.. Think about that..

But he's over-rated? Get the frick out

There is no room for logic in this thread

I know, but it is a similar comparison. Both are offensive coaches that won a SB and haven't been back since. I was about to say that nobody is thinking about getting rid of McCarthy or that his post-SB years have been poor, but GB is not on a good trajectory at the moment.

He doesn't really have a huge knowledge of the pats either. He knows gambling and basketball but he has a 5th grade knowledge about football. His guest carry his arse on NFL podcasts every week

He will be coaching for the Saints. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional or just trolling for clicks.

We're the saints dude. We can't be firing the best coach in our history just because of a bad couple years.

They led the NFL in Wins from 2009-2011. I think they were 2nd behind the pats from 2009-2013

So you think he'd be fired after making the playoffs 5 straight seasons? He's won more playoff games since the super bowl than the saints did pre-Payton.

If we're playing what ifs, can we ask what if the saints only have 2 fumbles against the 49ers instead of 3?

I do think, much like another Lousiana sports entity, there's success that has breeded complacisy and a bit of arrogance with Payton and that front office.

The real demise of the saints since 2012 has been poor scouting and the infamous "Loomising". Which has turned into robbing Peter to pay Paul, and he has a bit of Dan Snyder syndrome and wants to win free agency over winning the draft.

I think the Graham trade is just a microcosm of the whole thing. Clearly we won't know if that was a good decision or not for a while although it looks promising given how much Graham has faultered and how good Anthony has looked, but the only reason that trade went down was because Loomis made 50 other dumb roster moves that created the need for a drastic move.

And from what I've read on the ownership ordeal, he seems to have the most secure GM position in the league

No doubt, but they did revamp the entire scouting department last off season and it appears that they changed strategies

Payton needs to just let go of the defense all together. I'm not sure if he'd be willing to do that

Jeff Ireland was one of the worst GMs I've ever seen, so I was skeptical when y'all got him, but maybe he'll continue to be successful there. I like Anthony as a player and linebackers are always a good investment in the 1st round because if I had to guess I'd say they probably had the highest rate of having successful careers out of the usual first round positions. Peat was a bit of a head scratcher, especially since the best thing the saints are good at draft wise are drafting dudes from Montana st and making them good football players and y'all already have armstead

If I'm the saints, I'm dumping Loomis and grabbing Ted Thompsons right hand man. that stat they had at the beginning of the season where like 99 percent of their roster had never played for another team besides the Packers is frickin crazy to me.
