re: How does this board look if Harris doesn't overthrow 1 out of every 3 passes?

Make all the excuses you want, but the fact is that we had five games where we got beat by 14 or more the past 2 years. 6 if you want to count the MSU game last year where it took a miracle comeback to get it to within 6 points. In all three of those games this year we were only down by a touchdown or fewer in the 3rd only to have the other team pull away. That shows a lack of adaptation and the stubbornness of hitting your head against the wall over and over. Harris might not be doing them any favors but 1) Harris was recruited by Miles and Cam and 2) Harris' development is a direct result of their coaching. This gets glossed over like there is no huge arse elephant in the room. At some point Miles will have to accept responsibility for underachieving with all of these too recruiting classes.
I agree with all this. If Harris was at any other school He would have ridiculous passing and rushing stats. They fail to cater to players strengths.
Why the frick were we throwing the ball D Williams out of the backfield against Ole Miss???? Anyone with half a fricking brain knows that if you don't put Fournette in that situation Guice is the only other reasonable option.

I agree - he needs to learn to shrug it off and worry about the next down. He starts pressing and panicing way too soon.

I don't disagree. I'd love to see a brand new philosophy installed. But it ain't happening.

Mett struggled his JR year hear and dealt with way less drops than Harris did. Harris will improve. The first 7 games he looked WAY better than what he did his freshman year. November rolled around Bama and Arkansas shut down our running game. The oline became soft and were getting penalties left and right. Neither of these things were confidence boosters. Just like Mett in his JR year, Harris has made some beautiful throws in tight coverage. Which shows he has the talent he just needs to improve his accuracy and timing.
BH Sophomore Stats
1,904 yds - 53.2%, 12 TD - 5 INT in 11 games
ZM Junior Stats.
2,609 yds - 58.8%, 12 TD - 7 INT in 13 games.
Agree. Thow out what might be a record number of drops for the season and BH6's completion percentage approaches 60%. He has some work to do, but this is NOT all on him. He showed great progress from year one to year two, and I beleive we will see a similar jump from year two to year three! Cam Cameron said it, this offense is ready to explode!

I've made the argument on here before that Mett should have started his first year at LSU
I just think...how much better might he have been. I am just sold on it not being all on the qb's...if our offense is predicated on only being effective with NFL talent at the QB position we are doing something wrong

frick it, I'm in. He has the raw talent.

I always talk about this. Bottom line- a good QB makes an OC look good
the OC calls a play with manziel for instance, receiver isn't open, and he scrambles for 40 yards. Genius call!
Normal QB makes that throw into coverage- shitty call
Swap Harris with Prescott or Mayfield and all of a sudden Cameron is a genius

BH is playing scare this past month. No confidence. I say we take a page out of the Saban playbook and get a sports psychologist to work with BH during the offseason. He could throw in a bonus session for the HC, too. Both of them seem to be scared of Bama.

I love how this excuse can be used for Brandon but when Jennings went 4 of 15 he was terrible with no upside.

Of the 3 who was the highest touted? I don't know but I am pretty sure BH was higher touted than DP. I think if BH was being coached by either of those staffs he would look as good as those 2 guys.

How does the board look? Pretty freakin happy as we will be steamrolling our competition including the November gauntlet.
It does seem odd to me that Harris' problems seem pretty rudimentary and as such should have been worked out sooner, but what the hell do I know?

What concerns me is that you could see the light come on for Mett in his first year playing. It happened after the bye during the Bama game and he got better from there.
Harris, on the other hand, seems to have regressed.

This is what kills me. Why does it seem we are the only program who brings their QB's along slowly? I feel like we take so long to develop them and when we do they are barely average.

But let's remember what Cam did with Mett from '12-'13. Hopefully we see a similar leap from Harris.
This is too simplistic.
Mett's big leap was primarily due to simply getting out from under Stud, whose offense was just awful. Mett also had an NFL RB and two NFL WRs (which Harris already has now).
Also, let's not forget that Mett wasn't a raw QB when he got here. He had a spring at UGA where he challenged Aaron Murray for the starting job. After his off-field incident derailed him at UGA, he went to JUCO and lit it up.
So when he stepped on our campus, he had some seasoning. And just getting out from under Stud was a big reason Mett improved between 2012-13.
That level of improvement isn't going to happen with Harris, who's already been in Cam's system almost two full years, with one full season now as starter.

After his pick, I believe he is now always scared to throw another. Hes thinking too much and throws it high so either his teammate can get it or nobody can. Just needs to settle down and work on his form/footwork. Another offseason should help A TON.
Exactly. Les stresses ball security. And the evidence suggest that after the pick Les got BH all worried about throwing another one and it has totally screwed him up.

this is a big problem. THe excuse-makers will tell you our offense is so complex that it can only be mastered by a Jr or Sr. That's nonsense, of course.
Other QBs play well immediately. It just requires proper coaching to put them in the right system and call plays that utilize their skill set. Manziel and Jameis were both redshirt freshmen who, obviously, played very well.
In fact, 5 of the last 6 national champions had first year starters at QB. Other schools can get productive QB play from inexperienced players. It's called coaching.

Competent QB play requires completing 60% of the passes for more than 6.5ypa and 10ypc.
If Harris were performing at that level, LSU's offense would be much better and the team is probably 10-1 in the regular season.
That's what is so frustrating about this team since '09. Miles would have a lot more wins if they'd just implement a competent passing attack.

Yup.
Blows my mind this program cannot recruit even a middle of the pack QB.
