This is BS. We didn't run straight up the middle against Florida. We used misdirection and even a couple trick plays. So why so vanilla vs Bama?

EXACTLY what I was thinking. Waaaaay too vanilla on offense.

Agreed against Auburn, and South Carolina we ran a lot of speed sweeps, zone reads out of shotgun gun and that would have helped last night spreading those fat Bama linemen it's coaching philosophy sure run I formation 1/5 plays not 4/5 plays.

And why was the OL so hideously unprepared for last night? We have a head coach that was on the OL. We have, what we have been told, was the best OL in the country. We were going into a game with a well-known opponent with a lot riding on the outcome. And yet, the effort seemed to be little more than the spring game.

If T-Bob says coaching, if you call what BDP does coaching, isn't an issue, he's being less than truthful. Our kick-off coverage and return teams are bad and have been all season. As far as returns, Guice got crushed by unimpeded missiles. Where is the wedge???? There's no method to BDP's madness. The guy is inept and Les has sat back and done nothing or very little to remedy this embarrassment.
That is a coaching issue.

Eta and what about a draw or screen to counter their defense?

Harris wasn't exactly setting the world on fire last night. He has very little touch on the short and intermediate passes. Hell of an arm but he needs to tame it.

Speed sweeps, bubble screens, speed option all those things make a heavy defense work harder. Miles and Cam don't make the Bama defense work hard. Their game plan actually makes Bama look better than they are.

LOL at anyone comparing Bama to Auburn or SC.

Running trick plays and misdirection?

We lost 30-16. Our last td was close to garbage time. And you want to run trick-plays? You are as bad as Moxon in Varsity Blues wanting to run the oomp-d-oomp formation.

He gets it. All of the folks on here indicating that our defense sucks and Harris blows are missing the point in what happened last night. How many times did you see Alexander, Tuehuema and Pocic being pushed backwards. It occurred all night. The Alabama d-line rotation kicked our guys arse up front. That dictated the outcome of the game.

You can’t suddenly change your offense in the middle of a season. A power running team doesn’t wake up one day and suddenly decide they are going to run the spread

No one is asking for us to run the spread. We are saying that you can't have an offense that does the exact same thing for 85% of the game, especially against teams that are built to stop your go-to play of choice.

Lsu ran the ball up the middle and got fricking nowhere all night. It never worked. We don't need a spread offense to avoid this. We need to not be so fricking chicken little about passing because we are afraid of what could go wrong.

Am I the only one asking WTF is this team going to do if we ever lack elite running backs?

I love how Miles is blameless year in, year out.

I'm in the wrong line of work.

And what did the gameplan/playcalling do to ease that? Absolutely nothing.

So why we're they not mentally ready? Whose fault is that? 2 weeks to prepare and they aren't ready? What did Less do to force their defense to defend the whole field?

Dominated?! Then we should have the horses to beat bama. The road to the SEC championship runs through bama 9 out of 10 times. If you don't have the horses to dominate bama's defensive line then why are we running this type of offense? We see this year after year. We always recruit an abundance of speed players, but not enough horses. We only have 2 OL on this years recruiting list. I sure hope he can land at least 2 more.

Doesn't matter what you adjust to and run. When you're OL is getting pushed back 3 yards a play, theres nothing there for you.

I'm not sure why this is a difficult concept to grasp.

But I get that posters want to blame coaches so bad, you're blind to how terrible the OL is playing.

I mean, I thought going in we would have tried to run outside at least a little, but I can't disagree with what he said really.
