Or did he actually pull it out and point it at you?

No he placed hand on the weapon and turned towards me making sure that I was aware of his carrying.

What's the backstory here man

Back story is that moved from out of state to house he inherited and has been a total dick from day one.

Why did you come here to tell us this, but then make us guess the backstory and pull information out of you?

Brandinshing a weapon is not a crime. LA is an open carry state. Having said that go get your own gun and hang it on the front porch.

The neighbor inherited a house where he can't scratch his leg without getting the police called on him.

Oh...and, in the op's opinion, the new neighbor has been a meany pants.

He inherited a house from a relative that passed away. Truly no real story to tell. He has been just a arse up until this point. I was told that he had a dislike for my family and really that is all I know m

So totally unprovoked, he tried to intimidate you with a gun, all in the name of being a dick? Methinks we aren't hearing the entire story

What else has he done to be a dick? Why might he not like your family? How old is the guy?

Now that you know he was trying to intimidate you, why don't you go talk to him about it? It'll at least let him know you're not intimidated.

I don't just go around calling the cops you fricking dick. I only did so after his comments about brandishing the weapon. Maybe in your area it is a normal way of life to do such, but for me it was a first.

If that's is the story. Op has a potentially serious situation. Op decribes a delusional and psychotic neighbor.

If he is such a pussy why does the guy feel he needs a weapon?

Did you or your family have some prior conflict with his deceased relative?

Agreed but, why show YOU the gun? You called him a dick but never mentioned any previous encounters with him. Tell a full story if you want accurate responses.

If the neighbor is unapproachable even with a moderator. I would go talk with a lawyer. Remember you can stand your ground. You can't advance/persue if it does go down. Shoot to kill & never in the back.

No he was a great old guy. World War I I vet. We would help him out, do yard work and keep an eye on him.
I never knew that the man who moved in even existed until he moved in.

I'm just fricking with ya. You've done all that can be done. I didn't think your vague arse story needed a serious response.

Just pay attention and stay away. Neighbor may be a little off his box. If so, you don't want to escalate the matter, which could be easy with the right wacko. Remember, he could be ok with chaos. Are you?
