I'm leaning toward nobody being home at the time. Two explosions and a massive fire rip through one house with five people in it and nobody is injured? I'm not buying it. Nobody was home at the time this happened.
maybe so, maybe not. i still think trying to tie these 2 events together at this point in time is a massive stretch.

I agree with you, yet again. Just got the WAFB alert that the couple possibly went missing on Sunday. That was way before the house across town blew up.
Theory blown, myth busted.

It is a huge stretch. Blowing up a house just to burn some clothes makes close to zero sense. If the perpetrators own the house, they are immediately in the spotlight. If they can't be found, they are immediately suspected of some other wrong doing.

Why do criminals do most of the things they do? The vast majority aren't your stereotypical Lex Luther criminal masterminds. They're stupid people, who do stupid shite.
I do, however, agree that this could of been a kidnapping that went off of script. (Because, again, criminals are usually pretty stupid.)
If it was a straight up robbery and murder, and I had to venture a guess, I'd speculate that the perpetrators moved the victims to a place where an unattended vehicle might not attract attention for a few days - in this case, a truck stop 45 miles from the crime scene, with hundreds of vehicles in the lot - giving them a head start. Also, if the victims' vehicle wasn't in the driveway, neighbors may not be suspicious as to why the victims hadn't been seen for a day or two.
I'm also going to go out on limb and say that I don't the perps blew up a house (TWICE!) to destroy evidence and/or create a diversion.

Unless they were taken hostage and brought to that house on Stevendale where it was set on fire to create a diversion for the suspects to flee to Hammond and dump the stolen vehicle.
Just sayin'.
Just sayin'.

Agree. It's an interesting thought but I just don't think the two are related.

Maybe they blew up the house to distract the cops attention to make their getaway.

I live in a good area but if I get a knock on my door at night when I'm not expecting someone, I'm going to be at least a little suspicious.
It could be the middle of the day and I'd still be suspicious. If I'm not expecting someone, there is very slim chance I open the door.

The vehicle was also parked in a specific area of the lot, where it wouldn't be noticed.

okay I get it: my theory was a stretch. It now seems more and more unlikely given the fact that they were probably missing since Sunday.

Some 48 hours meets True Detective shite right there

Is this related to to the manhunt underway in Mandeville right now? There were like 10+ cop cars stopped on/around 59 all with their lights on near Abita Springs I-12 exit.

I can't wait for the press conference at 1:30pm. I have to believe the police know way more than we do at this point.

I approve of your effort though.

Nobody should ever open the door to a stranger you aren't expecting...no matter the time.of day or how nice your neighborhood is.
I will look out the window and shake my head for them to leave with the pistol in my hand. Had a girl scout troop leader get pissed about that but safety comes first.

I was unaware of this, but it's a pretty substantial sized complex. It's got to be at least 5 or 6 acres, maybe even 8 or 10.

My understanding is it was someone who had worked for them.
