Whatever, man. Girl scouts can be pretty intimidating.

It shouldn't take authorities very long at all to find these animals. Every law enforcement agency between Baton Rouge and Hammond as well as the State Police and FBI are going to make this a priority.

Nobody should ever open the door to a stranger you aren't expecting...no matter the time.of day or how nice your neighborhood is.

I will look out the window and shake my head for them to leave with the pistol in my hand. Had a girl scout troop leader get pissed about that but safety comes first.
--------------------------------------------------------------
If you refused to open the door for Girl Scouts and displayed a firearm to get them to leave, you need to grow some testicles. Just open the door and politely tell them that you're diabetic... Because you don't have the balls to tell a Girl Scout "No, thank you. I'm cheap!"

Move to your bunker in the woods, ASAP. Danger lurks behind every corner in suburbia!

I installed an Arlo camera system at my house. Have four cameras covering the driveway, front porch, friendship entrance and back porch/backyard.

I've had it up and running for three months, and already I have four moments:

1. A lady walking up and peeking in my windows.
2. The next day, two people walking around my home.
3. Kids driving a golf cart in my back yard.
4. Caught the license plate and description of a car that took a package from a home a few doors down.

$500 investment and about an hour to set up.

My bunker in the woods is filled with Thin Mints and Snickerdoodles.

I'd speculate that the perpetrators moved the victims to a place where an unattended vehicle might not attract attention for a few days - in this case, a truck stop 45 miles from the crime scene, with hundreds of vehicles in the lot - giving them a head start

A murder scene in an empty home and leaving bodies in a vehicle at a truck stop is two opportunities for someone to figure out something is up. Whereas just leaving the bodies in the home leaves just one. The malefactors were either kidnapping or stupid. Or both.

if the victims' vehicle wasn't in the driveway, neighbors may not be suspicious as to why the victims hadn't been seen for a day or two.

That is a good point.

From what I've read, they have been in BR for generations and own a lot of land. Old money BR family.

Is this related to to the manhunt underway in Mandeville right now? There were like 10+ cop cars stopped on/around 59 all with their lights on near Abita Springs I-12 exit.

I work in the area and a frick ton of cops went flying by earlier with sirens on

I sent the video of the kids driving in my back yard to one of their dads.

I turned over the video of the neighbor's package thief and the suspicious lurkers to law enforcement.

Its all I can do at this point, but it is creepy knowing that random people just walk up to your house in the middle of the day.

I don't know that they are well known. I just enjoy family history and Baton Rouge history. Google Armand duplantier. Look at the ebrpa map between highland Burbank and Nicholson near lee.

I just did the same thing. Luckily I haven't had any issues to catch on camera yet though. I recommend the system. Only problem I have is the batteries wear out pretty quickly. I have to keep a good supply of the batteries on hand.

I do, however, agree that this could of been a kidnapping that went off of script. (Because, again, criminals are usually pretty stupid.)

I doubt it was a kidnapping. There were no signs of a struggle and the safe was open. This says to me that they and the criminal(s) knew each other well enough for the couple to let them in the house and for the criminals to know there was a safe.

As there's no evidence of a struggle in the home, I can't help but think the criminals must have taken the couple to another location to kill them before bringing them to the truck stop (trying to kill two people in a pickup truck in a busy truckstop parking lot would be likely to attract attention).

That they drove the couple so far from town and left them in their truck in a place where it wouldn't draw attention tells me they either planned this well or the truckstop was just a fluke choice.

The extra information that isn't widely known yet will be interesting (estimated time of death, cause of death, condition of the truck, the last time anyone heard from or saw either of the couple, etc).

This is why we have cameras and a dog with a very loud bark.

Apparently it's not connected. Got the scoop from coworkers. There was a home invasion somewhere around here, and a tall white bald guy is in the woods back there somewhere. They even have a helicopter flying overhead searching for him. Most action Mandeville has seen in a while!
