So your title says JK Rowling rips off some 1985 movie then in your post you link the similarities of the movie and the first Harry Potter Movie then elaborate how Chris Columbus was the director/producer link. Hmmmmm I'm still wondering how JK Rowling wrote a 7 book best seller and created a unique, deep, and rich magical world yet because the first movie is similar to this 85 Sherlock and that both involved Columbus, her entire literary and I'll say it again, literary works are a rip off?

Yeah, you didn't read the last few paragraphs. JK Rowling, not Chris Columbus, developed the characters and their appearances as well as Hogwarts, professors, cults, dinner scenes, etc.

She would be the one who plagiarized her story from a mid 1980s movie.

Chris Columbus can be forgiven for using one of his own original stories as inspiration for the style and direction of the first two Harry Potter movies.

frick me this thread is terrible

Have you ever even been to England? A school looking like a castle, kids wearing scarves, and being taught by some old fart with a beard are straight up "No shite Sherlock" revelations.

Nope.

Perhaps you should read the first page again. If you're creative you might figure out how it happened...but I'll only tell the secret to someone of enhanced mental development.

Actually this thread is very interesting because Christopher Columbus publically admitted that Harry Potter borrowed heavily from 1985's Young Sherlock Holmes...meaning that he borrowed from his Young Sherlock Holmes script when directing Harry Potter.

The only person to avoid discussing this is JK Rowling, and that's because she's the one who may or may not have plagiarized from the movie.

How strange is it that her story almost exactly matches a movie from the 1980s, and somehow the person who wrote that movie ended up directing the movie adaptation of her story?

Small world.

No, its not an interesting thread.

Its just another of your trollish posts disguised as a legitimate attempt at discussion. There stories are not a near exact match and the main similarities are b/c both are set at British boarding schools.

Chris Columbus saying he was inspired by YSH means dick b/c that was his only experience w/a British boarding school. You know, the kinds that are all over the place where JK is from? Things like a teacher secretly being a bad guy or a school bully being a complete prick to the hero for seemingly no reason are common as all get out tropes in fiction and are in no way original to YSH.

This may as well be one of those YouTube videos that take vague similarities to claim movies like The Incredible and Jurassic Park 2 are the same movie. LINK

The only thing missing from your try hard click bait OP was tossing in MIND BLOWN into the title.

Wow, you're mad for no reason. Do you have a particular connection to either one of these movies? Why are you so mad?

Actually, you are wrong about me. How is this a troll post? If you think this is a troll post, then you must think the same thing of other people who notice the incredible similarities between the two movies, including the connection to Christopher Columbus.

You're such a angry poster.

When did you self appoint yourself to Movie Board Sheriff?

LOL. Main characters who all look alike, reside at a boarding school, and find themselves attempting to solve a mystery regarding an evil cult that may or may not be led by a school professor...a cult that uses "magic".

Sure...no similarities there.

Wrong. Chris Columbus wrote the screenplay for YSH. Chris Columbus directed the first two Harry Potter movies. It sure as hell is an interesting connection, bruh.

Except when Chris Columbus is involved with both movies and admitted that he filmed Harry Potter by borrowing heavily from YSH.

Man, you're stupid.

Maybe you can find out how SpongeBob is a ripoff of the Predator

Challenge accepted...

Main protagonists:

Spongebob Squarepants - loves to fight (karate), gunplay (see below), and in the movie version is all roided up to take on the villain from outside his world:

Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer - loves gunplay, and roided up to take on a villain from outside his world:

Supporting cast.

Patrick Star - low-intelligence adn mean-tempered at times. Also, he ain't got time to bleed, because starfish don't bleed.

Blain Cooper - Also does not possess the appropriate time to bleed and loves to dish out pain.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sandy Cheeks - crafty chick who lives in a tree in a glass dome underwater because she can't breathe down there and is hanging out with a bunch of dudes who aren't where she is from:

Anna Gonsalves - crafty chick who is hanging with a bunch of dudes that aren't where she is from. Also can't breathe underwater:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Squidward Tentacles - snobby and sarcastic a-hole often stuck with the group, and he thinks he's better than he is, and the group thinks he's a friend but he secretly hates them:

George Dillon - snobby and sarcastic a-hole often stuck with the group, and he thinks he's better than he is, and the group thinks he's a friend but he secretly hates them:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Villains.

Spongebob villains sometimes wear armor and sometimes masks/headcovers, also one has a weird face with sort of dreadlocks:

The Predator has all of those things:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Setting.

Spongebob - In nature (under the sea).

Predator - In nature (forest).

So basically, Spongebob was based off of Predator. Sorry, guys.

May or may not have plagiarized? That's such a compelling argument.

I'll go ahead and add you to the obsessive Harry Potter fanboy list.

It's hilarious to me that you think I'm the only person in the world who noticed similarities between the two movies. Apparently you didn't read the article I posted, and apparently you don't trust Chris Columbus's own words. Apparently a slew of people who think the same thing don't exist.

You're an oddly aggressive Potter fanboy who is clearly more than willing to ignore reality. Weird.
