He seems to be a halfwit. I never got the love for him. He's a loudmouth that loves him some him, followed closely by his love for an open mic.
That said, how does the good General explain the perciptous drop in crime over the past 15 years while American gun ownership is at an all-time high?
I'll sit tight and wait while he does some cipherin'.

America is in denial about the lack of quality mental health care offered in this country.
FIFY
Also throw in not enough attention paid to the mentally ill at young ages. There's a lot of good people out there trying to get help for their children and the options are limited. Especially if you reside south of the Mason Dixon.
Fix this and you make a much more progress in decreasing middle/upper income victim gun crimes than trying to outlaw guns.

I don't remember the details but Australia outlawed or heavily restricted guns, years back, after a mass shooting.
Most accurate estimates point to a decrease in about 6% - 7% of the overall total of privately owned firearms in Australia in the few years after the 1996 law was passed. Since then all of those firearms and then some have been replaced. Australia is a perfect example of the ignorance of gun-control advocates. They love to claim that the 1996 law stopped mass shootings but the had one in 2001 and another in 2007 or thereabouts. They also have rather frequent shooting involving "bikies".

And its going to lead us to Australia.
You might want to read up on the US Supreme Court case from 2008, "D.C. vs. Heller". The kinds of laws passed in Australia aren't even close to Constitutional here.

Heller was 5-4.
Think about that.
4 members of the USSC didn't think the 2nd Amendment applied to individuals.
Scary.

Actually, if you read the Breyer dissent you'd find that all of the SCOTUS justices concurred with the idea that 2nd Amendment protects an individual right (Stevens was more concerned with stare decisis than actually substantiating the "collective theory") though some of the supporting pieces of those dissents were very poorly thought through in some cases out of context with the core of the Heller case.

I will admit to not reading the dissent closely, or if I did I have forgotten the details. I eagerly listened to the oral via a podcast at the time.
Still, 5-4.

Really? Exactly what has he done, aside from Katrina?

As for Australia, yes, they've had mass shootings since the ban, but they are completely ignored. The left insists that they have had none. They also had a 50%+ increase in overall violent crimes, and they don't have nearly the number of thug pieces of shite that we have in this country. They had a 7% drop in gun homicides, which is a joke when you consider they banned 100% of the handguns. The left also brags about the less than 10% drop in gun=related suicides. LOL. Right, but the overall rate didn't go anywhere. They just found other ways to kill themselves.
The stats are similar in Britain. Their gun homicides actually went up for a couple of years before leveling off to what they were prior to the ban. But you won't hear that comparison. Instead, they'll compare their post-ban stats to America's current stats in an attempt to convince people that bans make people safer.
Conveniently, in order for a gun death to be included in the stats, there has to be a criminal conviction, so if a guy guns down a theater full of people but isn't caught, those deaths aren't included. Chew on that for a moment. The sacks of shite actually passed a law just to hide the stats. They're actually helping the criminal underworld do what it does.
These are not things done by people who believe that they are making things safer with gun bans, so the only logical conclusion is that this isn't the reason they want it done.

"I don't think it's a good idea to arm military at the recruitment offices or to have civilians there with guns," Honore said. "That's the job of law enforcement. On our bases, yes, we guard our gates and our bases, but not at the recruitment offices."
This dipshit is apparently unaware that Law Enforcement's negligent / accidental discharge rate is no better, and perhaps worse, than that of the military.
You can excuse the military because it doesn't practice firearms training nearly as much as it used to, but LE really has no excuse.
Honore' proved himself to be no friend of the average American during Katrina. He sure loves himself some big government, for sure.

Honore is a loud mouthed ex-general.
Did he have an ideal America and a plan on how we can get there. The left never does.
Anytime there is a shooting they use that as an opportunity to try to take guns away from the law abiding gun owners.

Checking him out on wiki, he doesn't seem to have any awards for valor, doesn't even have a CIB. He's had some nice command slots, but I'm not seeing 'hero' in his record.
Maybe some of our former or current military posters could comment?
