The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Biggio earned All-Star honors as both a catcher and a second baseman in 20 years with the Astros. He is the only player in major league history with at least 3,000 hits, 600 doubles, 400 stolen bases and 250 home runs.
Biggio scored 1,844 runs, 15th on the career list, slammed 291 home runs and stole 414 bases. He also was hit by a pitch 285 times, second all time, and played both center and left field. He finished his career with 668 doubles and had more than 1,000 extra-base hits.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbow.gif)

Did Randy Johnson go in as the first Mariner or first Diamondback? I saw that in an interview last night, he said that he didn't know, he never asked.

Maybe so, but if he was a Yankee as opposed to an Astro, he would have been in on his first try.

Wut? Why? Craig Biggio is easily one of the ten greatest 2B of all-time. If anything, he got robbed not making it in on the first ballot.

He's definitely not top 10 2nd baseman of all time.

Name 10 better. You have 2 minutes, as you are certain that he's not top 10. I'm quite curious.

No it's not. As good as Jeter was, he wouldn't have nearly the publicity that he did if he was playing nearly anywhere else.
Same goes for Pettite.

Had the Mets game on. Both announcers said Biggio was a first ballot player.

You forgot Marcus Giles and Mark Grudzielanek.

Yea that is dumb, to assume because of where he played dictated him being a 1st ballot HoF.
Jeter will be but it has a lot to do with him being the focal point on several World Series teams, the 3k hits, among other things.
Pettite will only be in the HOF if he buys a ticket, so not sure what your argument is on him.
Biggio isn't a 1st ballot because he was a compiler, nothing wrong with that but he doesn't have anything that sticks out. He has no memorable postseason plays, nothing in all-star game, and honestly nothing during the season. Being a steady producer who was behind bigger stars (such as Bagwell) hurt him more than the market.

Nice list, although I generally exclude most any player that played in the dead ball era.
Posted on 7/26/15 at 3:41 pm to cubsfan5150
Then your exclusions are not smart. How can you say someone is top 10 when you don't include the whole history.
