If Pujols had retired at 10 years do you think he would still get in?

Any other non-pitchers that you think could have quit after 10 and still got in (recent players).

Great accomplishment for such a terrible franchise.

Biggio was my favorite player growing up. I remember when when I was 9-10 the Astros were playing a minor league exhibition game. Biggio jumped up into the stands before the game and sat ontop of the dugout signing balls until every kid got an autograph. I still have that ball

Did he retire or forced to quit due to career ending injury, I think each would have implications on voters. Either way he eventually gets in, after 10 years he had 3 MVP awards, a roy, and finished in the top 5 of mvp another 4 times.

Either way, but it would increase the likelihood that someone gets in with the injury angle.

Here is an iconic play

His 3000th hit that he tried to stretch to a double.

Tduecen, you usually make good points but to say he is a compiler is retarded.

He played 20 seasons averaging 175 hits a year. And Fifth. fricking fifth all time in doubles.

He played second for years. Then three years before retirement, astros signed Kent and he moved back to the outfield without bitching at all. He was a team player. Embodied the game.

He is a compiler and I've said there is nothing wrong with that, Jeter is a compiler as well. But Biggie was not head and shoulders above anyone, no All-Star MVP, no ROY, No MVP, no post season awards, etc those help separate the two and part of the difference in 1st ballot vs bot 1st ballot.
