Sounds like this is their problem and not yours. Paying overtime in special circumstances is simply a cost of doing business and should be expected.

Sounds like there is more to this firing.

Very true, at least one manager should be on salary to take care of instances like this as well. Or hell, the owner could actually do some work.

Her mom was always in the store taking care of customers... everyone in the area knew her mom.. And people came in all the time speaking very fondly of her mother who passed away a few years ago... some of the same ones would cuss my boss... She has run off more customers than any employee she has had, and cost herself much more trouble than needed by not recognizing and keeping good employees.

I think in 1-2 months from now you will wished you would have gotten fired sooned (or quit). Being late chronically is bad, what you described is absolutely terrible. Even Triad Hospitals, the worst organization in healthcare (by far) gives employees more laxity than that.

Good Luck!

If the company has over a 200% employee turnover rate in only a year and a half, then that speaks loudly about what kind of company it is. frick them is what I say, but they seem like a shite company.

I remember you posting a pic of your store at some point in time and can't for the life of me find it.

Honestly, I think this may be a blessing in disguise. I know it sucks right now, but this will give you the motivation to find something better. I wish you the best and keep your head up.

WTF did you stay at such a shitty job? You should've been looking for another one a long time ago.

This guy really comes across as a doormat employee. Although I agree what others say that he's leaving out a lot of important details to the story.

The whole thing doesn't make sense. And I can't imagine he's getting paid a whole lot either.

t's insulting that he alleges that he was fired for being late twice in 18 months. There's a back story he's not sharing.

My gut says the same thing

so if I don't come in there's no one to open the store. It's understandable that the owner was upset the store wasn't opened on time,

You never mentioned that your tardiness caused the store not to be open. Yeah, I'd be pissed too.

When customers roll up to a retail store that should be open, but isn't they get pissed and drive over to the competition to get what they need.

Don't let his bleach white face and red hair fool you. Ronald might be a clown, but he's also a hard arse!

I had just gotten a bonus for that as well. I'll give them that, they did give out cash bonuses they didn't really have to.

They gave you $50. Thats not jackshit, and really fricking insulting when you boil it down. A bonus should be at least in the 3 figures. It's like Bob Cratchet thanking Mr Scrooge for allowing him not to work on Christmas, and then screwing him over in every other possible manner.

How do you know $50 bonus isn't fair. What if his job was at a sno-ball stand?
