Trust me when I tell you this! If you were the top sales person and they cared about how long you were physically in the office that is a company that you don't want to work for anyways. ALL that should matter for salespeople is what your sales are. My DREAM is to have an amazing salesforce that I never have to see, all that matters is $$$$!!!!!

Yeah, being late isn't really why they fired you. That's just the excuse they used. You either sucked as an employee or they just didn't like you

When, exactly, were your hours cut? 40 to 28 are NOT random numbers.

Last august. I worked from Dec of 2013 to August 2014 without any issues or being late. Then when I was late they cut my hours... Then the new people all screwed up and got fired or quit cause of the way they were treated so I got my hours back... I've worked 6 days a week without requesting off except one day since then and asked off for that day weeks in advance and actually tried to just switch schedules on that day.

Are you considered a full-time employee, and do the other salesmen work over 28 hours/week?

I worked 40 hours a week, sometimes overtime. The other employees have worked tons of different hours... The two managers that have been there as long as me both get 40 hours, but one gets it in 6 days and the other gets it in 5... They have also all gotten off for Christmas or Christmas eve... I have not due to the fact I don't have kids... I've worked every weekend and holiday they have asked of me, which was every single one since I worked there..

Honestly I have tried to do too much for them and that's what led to me being late to begin with.. if I had just said there is no way I can come in cause I have all this going on I wouldn't have been late.

When I requested off I was told that I couldn't get off cause others would get overtime... We are always shorthanded there... cause no one is good enough for them.

The issue is that I worked alone and I opened the store alone... so if I don't come in there's no one to open the store. It's understandable that the owner was upset the store wasn't opened on time, but it leaves the employees very vulnerable if anything happens to them where they can't make it on time or need to request off without a lot of prior notice.

There's actually two stores if this all sounds confusing.. it was just me and one other manager that worked at one store... we were the only ones that have worked there for the last 6 months or so.

It really was. The shitty part is though that I really liked the actual work and was really good at it.. The store I worked at was breaking sales records. I had just gotten a bonus for that as well. I'll give them that, they did give out cash bonuses they didn't really have to.

Well, hopefully they'll suffer without you? May have a silver lining if shite happens for a reason and you find a better job.

I really don't want anyone to suffer, I try not to hold grudges like that. But I never had a customer complaint on me other than telling one I couldn't except a check from them because the owner told me I couldn't... Another employee got a few complaints at the other store so we had to hang a sign at ours posting a number if anyone had a complaint... I had customers ask if they could call to tell them how good we were to them.. I doubt they ever did though, but I know I did a good job.

I did however have several customers complain to me about the changes the owner made after taking over her mothers business... A few even cussing her for some of her changes and saying she should have stayed her arse in texas (she moved back from texas to take over the business after her mom passed away)

She's a very greedy, lazy, self-entitled, and stupid individual.. I'm stupid for staying there as long as I did though... so???

Signs are actually pointing to this.

It might be cheaper for the employer to have high turnover and lower sales than to pay a ton extra per employee.

Honestly she really isn't smart enough to even figure out what is best for her. This is a lady that doesn't know how to send a email attachment and was so incapable of adding up employees hours I had to do it every week to make sure she didn't mess it up. She also was incapable of making a schedule.. I would have to remind her that she didn't have anyone scheduled to open or close... She finally passed all those duties to a manager... All she does is go to the bank to get change, and go pick up orders the managers make. And she often made it very hard on the managers cause she couldn't do those things on a organized schedule either.

She also had her boyfriend help her do all those tasks.

One manager had to hire someone without her approval because we were shorthanded and she wasn't available to do interviews.

Reading this thread OP, you've got a shitty job. Be thankful they forced you to leave. Find another one.

If what you said is true, and they wouldn't give you off to deal with personal shite, then to hell with them. Personal time is your time, and emergencies are emergencies.

Hell, I got written up for telling a manager the owner told us we couldn't do something anymore, and he got upset about it and threatened to quit.. so I got written up for gossip and upsetting an employee. They're crazy.

They also tried to write me up for being on the internet, when the only reason I was on the internet was to explain to the owner how to send a email attachment

"This was the only thing that happened, nothing else"

"I got written up for..."

Do you understand how those two statements conflict?

I do, the incidents I got written up for though happened nearly a year ago... And I'm sorry, but if my boss asks me if my manager is giving away a certain product (even though it is very cheap and he was doing so to promote sells) and I know that he is... what am I to do? Lie to the owner and tell her he isn't? Or tell the truth... Which is what I did... And then when I explained to him what happened and was told we couldn't give away this very cheap product he became very upset... Maybe I overstepped my bounds by explaining to him I had been told we couldn't do something anymore... but without any infrastructure, meetings, etc... I didn't know what I was supposed to tell him and what not to tell him. I was expected to inform him of other things we couldn't do like except checks from certain people.

As far as the internet thing goes.. I was doing my job... I was asked by my owner to help my owner send a email with an attachment... to do so I had to get on my email so I could look at it to step her through it.... she was just too dumb to remember it... when I explained it to them they didn't write me up for that.

I worked there a year and a half and we never had one group employee meeting. I even requested we have one a few times... I also hardly ever saw my boss, maybe once every few weeks.. and only saw my managers for a total of about 5 minutes a day... just enough time for shift change.

There's more to the story here, the employer hasn't had their side presented. The reason the OP is cryptic is that the truth is not flattering to his story. Regardless of what happened, I sure as hell wouldn't air this type of issue here. I'd man up and solve the problem. It's insulting that he alleges that he was fired for being late twice in 18 months. There's a back story he's not sharing.
Very obvious.

They will be contacting him wanting him to come back. Don't go back without a managers job and being the highest paid employee.
