Piecing together your work experience from your posts (low pay, long hours, incompetent leadership) I would consider being fired a blessing in disguise.

No kidding. Even when I was a part time stock boy in high school, I could call my boss and tell him I was running late.

Tidefan I hate that you lost your job, but a single incident, or as you admit being late twice during a 18 month period doesn't usually cause you to lose your job. it's just the final straw. you've had one foot out the door before you were late, you were just unaware of it.

Ummm, I said this and got excoriated for it.
There's more to the story here, the employer hasn't had their side presented.
The reason the OP is cryptic is that the truth is not flattering to his story.
Regardless of what happened, I sure as hell wouldn't air this type of issue here.
I'd man up and solve the problem. It's insulting that he alleges that he was fired for being late twice in 18 months. There's a back story he's not sharing.

No, there's not.. other than I was pretty late.
The manager even said my hands are tied... she's also told me and other employees before that the owner was running off all her good help.
