if you are going to buy one( i dont recommend it) buy secondary market ones. Like as some sucker is selling the time share he regrets purchasing

Generally not a great thing, but if you know the deal and know you're gonna get use out of it, it can be okay. I know people who have done timeshares and love it.

Terrible idea i had 10 years ago! Made some decent exchanges throught RCI, but overall, I was tired of the nonsense and them increasing maintaince fees so I ended up paying them just to take the deed back.

great to buy cheaply on ebay after someone else spent a huge pile of money buying it from the resort.

What is so bad about these? I think my parents bought a 10 year one when I was younger and we would use them all over the world once a year. Been to Cancun a few times and Hawaii with them and a few countries in Europe. Definitely seemed like it was worth it to me. Then again, I wasn't paying the bills

I sold them for about a year. It's a terrible purchase; don't do it.

And before I get berated for selling them, I was young and dumb and they didn't tell us all of the negative aspects of owning one in our training. I found that out on my own.

Shady sales tactics, sales person claims to help youi, but they can't even if they wanted. Maintenance fees always go up. Death, taxes, and maintenance fees. You won't be able to get into many resorts unless you have more points, or you trade a week for a week.

Just trust me, don't do it.

They're for poor people who can't afford their own vacation home.

I'm a Hilton guy...went on a free weekend to Disney and sat through sales pitch. The sales guy may have been 21 years old and was trying to impress me. I listened politely and declined and enjoyed my weekend. Like others said, do the math. It is cheaper to book and plan your own vacation, especially with all the fees they charge.

It's only good for people that don't use the Internet very well in finding better deals or idiots who vacation at the same place a few times a year. My friend has one with Wyndham and every time we talk about a trip he has "points" expiring I can use but the location is always far away from where I actually want to be.

Wanna use my Gatlinburg location? It's 30 min away near the interstate.
Going to Vegas? Stay a mile off the strip in my "condo".

No thanks.

stay away from weeks, even floating ones, buy credits that can be used anywhere, anytime, any size unit, for as many days as you have credits, from 2 days to unlimited , credits that can be used for cruises and air fare to package deals.
