The no ties to Louisiana thing means absolutely nothing to me. I just want a good broadcaster and I think he is one

I like the hire. Yes, he doesn't have LA ties, but his voice is perfect and he's enthusiastic.

I like it. I would not want to hear it after every touchdown. And listening to his voice clips, he did not use his "signature" after every Georgia Southern touchdown.
And I think he's got the moxie and smarts to realize at a big SEC program, he might need to limit it a little further.
But no, I don't want to see it disappear completely. Use it the right amount and at the right times, and it will be fantastic.

Just depends. Someone with some sort of tie to here whatsoever. Could be a wife who is an alumni, family from here, grew up a fan, idk. And someone with a halfway decent signature call.
I just want to to be able to hear that slight hint of fandom in the announcers voice. It shows me he cares about this place and it's not just a stepping stone or a paycheck.
Not having La ties may be one thing but dont give me that "he's southern" bullshite. Georgia/South Carolina has nothing to do Louisiana.

Hannagriff was the only local BR guy I can even stand, but let's be honest - he does not have the voice to be a play by play guy at this level. He's smart and is a great color guy/aftershow host though.

I am an unabashed Charles Hanagriff fanboy. That said, I think this guy sounds great. Welcome aboard Chris. It's a sacred obligation. Like making Frank Sinatra's drink, carrying around Lord Stanley's Cup or being the guy that handles quality control at Guinness. Don't screw it up Chris.

Wow, just about 2 mins into his calls, I was imagining the calls for the Tigers - really like the intensity and in-play info.
While I want the Tigers to be scoring TDs a ton, I don't know if I could take "Put a Tiger 6 on it!".... just sounds chinky.
My hunch, he will be the voice that will attract more Tiger fans and bring more enthusiasm to those already intense Tiger faithful, just by his calls. I like it.

He's about to have ties to Louisiana. No different than Les' family. They're Louisiana kids even though they weren't born here.
