I'm pretty sure the other night was his last baseball game.

Replace Eagles with Tigers and I think I like it!

Yeah, I hope he leaves this at Georgia Southern.

Really? Was his job tied to Hawthorne some how or he doesn't want to do it anymore if he didn't get full time job?

Charlie Hanagriff fuuuuuuuuuuuucked.

Have we started the Hanagriff meltdown watch?

I really like Charlie, but this was the right decision. I like the sound of Blair. Would not have minded Charlie doing baseball, though. It suits him better than basketball or football.

Just speculation but I know me personally I wouldn't want to work for someone who passed me over. I think there is a reason Rantz has been up there most of the season. He's going to be the color guy next year.

This is a great hire. Many of you may be too young to remember when Hawthorne came to LSU. He wasn't necessarily Al Micheals by any stretch but got better by the years. Blair brings a starters aptitude with a ton of upside.

Keith Jackson is close to God among USC fans, and he was a Georgia native who was southern through and through.

I get what you are saying, but the Keith Jackson example is absolutely a horrible choice in illustrating your point.

Keith Jackson was a national announcer. He didn't do play-by-play for USC athletics.

At what point did I ever suggest that LSU should hire a homer? I just like the idea of having a guy who is familiar with our athletic program's history and culture.

He sounds natural and a man of the south.

The "south" is such a broad and overused term with no specific meaning to me, being from south La. Being a radio guy in Ga has jack shite to do with Louisiana. I am going to be that guy. No ties here and have no clue who he is. Voice sounds great but I just don't understand it.

Now I have to grow to love some rando who is contracted out to be the voice of the tigers for the rest of my adult life and my future kids childhood? Feel like I am back in the 1500's for an arranged marriage.

Great hire.

I am thrilled.

Twenty years from now, Chris Blair will be an iconic voice of LSU sports in the manner of Hawthorne and Ferguson.

Good point. Jim Henderson isn't from New Orleans and he is the voice of the Saints and there is no one that will be able to do it like him.

Bobby Hebert isn't next in line.
