Wasn't there a guy in BR that picked up some underage chick at a 21 and over bar and got the same treatment as the OP?
I remember a few years back a similar occurrence happened with a BR cop. If I remember the details correctly, he and another guy picked up a girl at a bar and brought her home and both had sex with her. She ended up being underage and had lied about it and both the guys were arrested. I remember the arrest but don't remember if/how/when the case was resolved in court.

per the article, the state supreme court is deciding a "she lied" case soon and may allow that as a defense
now in Louisiana, the statute CLEARLY says that this is not a defense, which is just ridiculous...but is based around that logic
I don't know jack about the legal system....and I think this kid got completely hosed in the situation. That being said, let your mind run through the scenarios of allowing a "she lied about her age defense."
You could potentially have older teenage girls escaping poverty at home by entrapping/enticing older wealthier men by lying about their age....then extorting huge sums of money in return for an admission that they lied.
I am probably being a little simplistic or stupid but I can definitely see problems by setting that precedent.

Someone has been drinking haterade

Why are so many prosecutors pieces of shite? Self-righteous?
Is it reasonable to expect a young guy to ID every girl he meets to make sure she isn't lying about her age? Most 14 year olds look like little kids but some mature early and look like fully grown women.

That potential situation exists even without the lying is no excuse policy. A teenage girl lies about her age to a wealthy man then says that she will report him to the police if he doesn't pay. This is effectively no different than the situation you described.
ETA: The lying about her age is.no excuse policy just prevents women from protecting men, whether the man really knew or not.

That could have been my/your slutty daughter lying to men to get them to have sex with her.

How is it that a 14yr old girl is mature enough in the eyes of the law to consent to have an abortion(without parental notification) but not mature enough to consent to have sex?

That's his problem. Do the crime, do the time.
So let me get this straight....every time you break a law, you turn yourself in and "do the time" right? And before you get started....yes, you do break laws.

And the sad part is unless there's a lot of 14 year olds who work and earn their own money now that I don't know about, it's those girls' parents who had to buy those clothes.

The funny thing is, this DA thinks he's getting justice for the girl, and she's probably going to have all kinds of issues for the rest of her life, just knowing that she fricked this guy's life up.

The DA screwed the pooch on this one. Should have reduced the charge to much lesser offense. Victim's parents asked for the case to be tossed, giving the DA all the rope he needed to adjust the charges. Y'all are jumping on the judge but the DA is the first one up in this ordeal.
