The DA and the Judge had to act this way assuming they are both elected officials. Can you imagine the attack ads?

"Judge Smith released a child rapest back on to the streets. Will this rapest sexually assault your child next? Judge Miles would never do such a thing ... Vote for Judge Miles"

Politicians care only about one thing...getting re-elected .

shite like this really screws the sex offender list up,

major concern to me as well...to lump this guy into the same group as a serial rapist is a crazy notion and really nullifies the value in the registry...

There's a simple fix to this too, levels. Not that this kid should be on there at all, but the fact that a kid convicted of statutory rape is put on the same registry, in the same capacity, as a violent rapist is a joke.

ETA: Not even getting into the litany of ridiculous crimes that can land you on the registry.

That really is shite. The fact that you have to check someones drivers license before acting is sad. Trust is at an all time low.
Then you gotta worry about fakes. Why can't we start holding the person in the wrong accountable for their actions. Also what about the website? Couldn't the guy sue them since she had a profile when you had to be of a certain age, which she didn't meet? It looks like the guy blindly put his trust in their filtration system and that failed him big time.

That judge needs to be fired and thrown in jail, that stupid count/dick.

WHAT

THE

frick

These people are in control of the lives of millions of people, which affect their family's as well, and they are too egotistical or plain dumb to work with some common sense.

This really pisses me off. Why does the guy get all this bull shite, but what happens to the girl? How does the person who lies and tricks someone into having sex with them, not get into trouble?

Also do all of these women teachers that get caught having sex with underage males, do they get harsh punishments like what he got? B/c honestly, teachers who have sex w/ their students who are underage, should be punished the worst. I mean these people are around children all the time and need to be weeded ( ) out.

Now Zach sits in a Michigan jail, serving 90 days. When he gets out he will be on the Sex Offender Registry for 25 years.

I would have been like:

"These laws are in place to protect young people from predators. You're barely outside of that age bracket yourself. After seeing the testimony and statements of the 'victim' and her mother, and considering all the factors, I'm sentencing you to 90 days, all but 1 day suspended and you will have to register as a sex offender - but I'm waiving that for 1 year. If you stay completely out of trouble - I mean no drinking in public, no driving while intoxicated, no possession of drugs, NO SPEEDING, NO ILLEGAL PARKING - I mean completely clean for 365 days and I will consider motions for expungement and permanent waiver of the sex offender registry. Any questions? What's next on the docket."

It's all a game. I used to be a big supporter of the judicial system, but I've seen enough to no longer have any respect for it.

Regardless of her age, she should be held accountable for lying about her age. And under the circumstances he should be released for time served and spared the second offender registration.

If he had brutally raped and beaten her then yes he deserves far worse.

If someone did that to my daughter he wouldn't need jail time or second offender registration. He wouldn't need oxygen either.

you mean the "brutally raped" example and not the "14 year old lied about her age" example, right?

Which is why it's BS that judges have to run for election. I don't want someone thinking about a political ad when they are making a ruling.

his lawyer is apparently going to appeal or try to withdraw the plea b/c the prosecutor said he'd be neutral but then wasn't at sentencing

Still will cost this kids parents a huge amount of money for his defense lawyers.
Hope that prosecuter gets railroaded some day... that would be justice

Yeah, have you been tailgating?

I can't tell if some of them are 12 or 21.
