TPOS concept for something like this.
Unfirtunately it's a feature of puritan legislators looking at the world in black and white and ignoring grey area like this fricking case.

It's been a strict liability crime for over a century and more often than not makes sense, but when it doesn't, it is amazing how unfair it is.

Until judges and prosecutors are held responsible for their actions this kind of abuse of power will continue.

That seems to be part of our culture now: meet, hook up, have sex, sayonara. Totally inappropriate behavior. There is no excuse for this whatsoever

I know of cases where, as an example, a 19 year old screws a 15 year old, they marry, and then after the marriage there is some family blowup and they try (and occasionally are successful) in prosecuting the guy.
On the other hand, I was in court in Sabine Parish and there was some guy who had apparently knocked up his daughter in 1990 (not my case but it was pronounced in open court). The worst part was the guy didn't seem the least bit fazed by that discussion in front of about 100 people.

All of that is completely legal. Sounds like he's a Puritan that loves to be authoritian as frick. He once put a woman in jail for ten days while she was settling a traffic ticket, her crime was whispering frick this bullshite.

If they parents are defending this, and they are taking a good perspective, then how did the authorities get a hold of this happening at all? Who cried foul?
