Arse's Fatty Rewind™ (Hot garbage edition)

It was a fun weekend, but the food was not that good for the most part. I hope the Beau will make up for it next weekend.
On Friday, I grabbed a Beam and went to Bourre to try their wings. I had heard mixed reviews and wanted to give them a shot. I'm not much of a daiquiri fan unless I can get them in the ghetto with extra shots of 151. I didn't bother with their "fancy" daiquiri options.
We got all three of their options: Buffalo, kimchi, and sweet mango. They ranged from 7-8 bucks for 6 wings. My favorite was the buffalo. They had a good flavor.
The chicken was small, but appeared to be higher quality. I prefer my chicken roided. I was still hungry after dining.
I wasn't sure what they were going for with the atmosphere. It's just the old Boucherie with a few tables and a couple employees at the bar. I think of it more as a bar than anything, with only beer and daiquiris. I anticipate they will change things up a bit. I was not impressed, and they've got nothing on Blue Oak.
Suffering from slight hunger, we walked around to see what we could eat at other establishments in the area. Many were packed, and I stumbled into Pachita's. This was a mistake.
I should have known from the moment I looked at the menu. The menu read like a novel and was poorly organized. I went with a sampler with a choice of three items. I went with the chicken flauta, chicken tamale and chicken mole.
The mole was terrible. The only thing I somewhat enjoyed was the tamale. The beans were runny along with the sour cream. Does Sysco make sour cream now? I have begun to see what I assume is similar product at several restaurants. It appears to be watery and not dense at all. People shouldn't cut costs on sour cream. I want that shite dense.
From there, we ran to Robert's Bar to watch the Tigers and some of the Tulane game. I grabbed a Beam and enjoyed the smoke free air.
During the delay, I got in some exercise.
After a few drinks, we ran home. We had to go to Baton Rouge in the morning for a wedding.
I awoke the next morning feeling hungry. It was likely due to the lack of size of the wings discussed above. I ran to Stein's and grabbed a bagel with smoked salmon. It was delicious. Old Dan even seemed to be in a decent mood. That might have been because I was only his second customer interaction of the day.
After polishing off the bagel, I made a souvenir sized Beam and hopped in the car. We got downtown and wanted to eat some lunch.
We went to Tsunami since it was one of the only places open and around the corner from the hotel. Their sushi is not that good. I'm sorry for the people who believe this is the best sushi in Baton Rouge. Without their view, they'd be closed. My favorite thing about the lunch was the eggplant appetizer. The sushi was very forgettable.
After the disappointment, I walked to Lucy's for some Beam.
I wanted to get a brief nap in before the wedding, so I walked to a corner store and grabbed some beer. I went back to the room and watched some ladies softball.
After finishing off the beers, I grabbed an old fashion while getting dressed. I was happy to see Cops was on.
Before the wedding, I stopped at the bar and ordered a Manhattan. It was okay.
The wedding was fun, and the food was delicious. Congrats to the bride and groom.
After the wedding, I caught a ride back to the hotel and went to the bar to watch the end of the Tigers game. After the game, I ran to Schiltz & Giggles to grab a pizza to help my body adjust to the amount of Maker's consumed. It's always a decent night when it ends with greasy pizza and some beer.
On Sunday morning, I awoke feeling fine and wanted some breakfast. I went to the buffet downstairs. The food was okay, but worth the price of $12. I grabbed a plate and then went in for an omelette.
We left around 10:30 to head to Nola East for a birthday party. I was happy to find some High Life and a bounce house. My niece and I dominated in that thing.
The spread was okay, but I was disappointed they didn't have their usual 7 layer dip. My favorite was the owner's famous charred weenies.
After bouncing, I ran home to relax for the week. I grabbed a Beam and passed out. Around 6, I awoke and ordered some Liberty Cheesesteaks. This was the first time I used their delivery service. I grabbed a wiz with peppers and some fries with garlic mayo. I was very pleased.
Next week, I'll be hitting the beautiful shores of Biloxi. If you see a sexy dude at a cabana, come give me a shout.
Stay fat, my friends.

That pizza looks awful. Looks like it was cooked in a microwave and finished in the toaster oven.

It's no Johnny's. It served it's purpose.

Where was the reception?

Tsunami is not good, it's expensive for what you get and the service sucks. The only thing they have going for them is the view.

Mexican crema is supposed to be runny.

Not surprising. Food is always on point at any reception I've been to there.

I think Bourre plans on expanding their menu once they move into Cafe Nino's spot. The lack of options is something they're definitely suffering from right now.

I need to try those Buffalo wings from Bourre, but I'm in no hurry after a couple reports telling me to stick with Blue Oak.
Here's our Blue Oak spread from Friday night:
Buffalo on left, Rooster on right

I was out front at Blue Oak Friday night with a group of people; may have seen you there.
It was the first time I've been; BBQ wasn't good but wings were great.

Hey man, I'm one of the owners of Blue Oak BBQ and I'm glad you dug the wings. What BBQ did you have? We're always trying to make our stuff better and I'm sorry you didn't like it.
