There have been and will be thousands of threads about him until the end of time. He is a genius.
I think he personally is fascinating, Very smart guy. Gambled or still does. Once said he had basically turned A-Sexual. He's the kind of guy that many books will be written about.

NM is in my hall of fame if only for one joke. He was doing the SNL Weekend Update in '95 or so and said this, in his matter-of-fact tone of voice and with an incredulous semi-smirk on his face:
"After the OJ Simpson acquittal verdict was announced, Washington DC mayor Marion Berry urged both white Americans and black Americans... To help get him some crack."

He was kind of obsessed with it. His career would have been a lot more successful if he didn't have to burn bridges and talk shite. His opening monologue when he hosted SNL was his undoing. They finally kissed and made up after his firing, but he just couldn't let it go.

I don't know, Norm's that kind of weird comedian that you can't really put him in the normal comedian path. Definitely not a movie star, probably couldn't carry a TV show(unless it's something like Louie), and too dry for talk show hosting.

Just saw him on Letterman from last Friday. It's awesome.
He actually broke down at the end telling Dave goodbye. Wow.

He actually had a television shoe for about half a season.
I think he played a former hockey player.

The great thing about Norm is I believe he likes to make entertainment execs and insiders more uncomfortable than his audience (ESPYs & SNL monologue are the two prime examples.)

Meanwhile Dave just seemed like he couldn't care less.

Absolutely not correct. He walked over, hugged him and said "Norm that was sweet", thanks.

You should really look up the youtube video with him at the youtube awards a year or two ago. He is so out of place and mocking everyone. It's great.

The reason? You guessed it, Frank Stallone.

His stand up about alcoholism, heart attacks and cancer are some of the funniest things I have ever heard:
Alcoholism
Heart attack

Non-verbals are 80% of communication, and Letterman's rigid posture and casual voice says it all. I'm sorry you can't admit that your hero is a narcissist.

Dirty Work was solid.

Reminds me of another one. He was doing weekend update, and for all the years of watching SNL, for some reason this quote stands in my mind.
He told some joke that was pretty anti-woman. It got some jeers and a few boos from the crowd, then he said "oh pipe down! For your information one of our female writers wrote that joke" then everyone calmed down and kind of had some accepting laughs. Then he came back with "nah just kidding, we dont' hire women here"

They should have never taken his show off the air.
