When I saw this thread this morning the craving was set.

ETA: Try the panneed pork po-boy on Monday. Light mayo, roast beef gravy, provolone and pickles. That is how I order it. It is freaking great.

Question for you gentlemen: have you tried any sandwichs over at Emmett's? I know he has a meatball, and a few others. I've only picked up food to cook.

OP- you try Bevi's yet?

Nope, never have.. Where is it?

The softshell is really good. You can tell they take care of their oil, the color is always perfectly golden and you never taste the oil like you do in some greasy spoons.

Any recs for the best daily special?

In my opinion I prefer the chicken fried steak. She gave me fried chicken yesterday but it was cold ( like a free sample) I didn't get to try it hot and ready to go.
I also really like the Chicken Parmesean.
I haven't had anything I didn't like yet, but that Chicken fried steak was excellent and I usually do not like chicken fried steak. She uses good meat though and it shows.

Haven't tried that yet. I had the meal a couple of weeks ago.
I haven't been to Sake Don's in over two weeks, so I'm going to skip the Fried Steak poboy again, in favor of a Caterpillar roll.

I like the Tuna Tataki. Where he sears it then slices it thin then you get ponzu and shirici all over it.

Hell I have to head to Lauircella now. I'll hit Don's up.
That lunch special of two rolls, soup and a drink for $7 is hard to pass up.

My Man..

I'm all about the cheap plate lunches all over town. I am generally in a new for lunch every day. It's fun to stop in and try mom and pop plate lunch shops.

I don't know if Emmett's is doing sandwiches for lunch again. I'm looking at one of his menus right now, but it's not new.

Prices don't look bad, $8 for a 12". I haven't had any complaints with any of his cuts.

It's crazy how a little area like Jefferson/Harahan could have so many nice lunch places. I forgot who asked, but Bevi should be your next place to seek out. They've got the GOAT poboy in the metro area.

It is really good. They slather the bread with a garlic and butter spread. Marinara, perfectly fried chicken and mozz. Same treatment for the meatball po-boy. I bet if you asked they would do it with Italian sausage as well. The Gramps's Special is excellent.
