Anybody a fan of Parenton's poboys in Jefferson?

I love that place. First off, you walk in and the owner Brenda is always there. She may ask to take a picture of you if she don't know you. It's so she can put you on her customer calender on the first day you come in.
Ask her whats good and she may let you try some samples. She loves to show off her Joey's select (huuuge) oysters. Menu items are pretty limited as most come for the specials.
Poboys range from an excellent soft shell crab, to the ever so fattening and delicious chicken fried steak with roast beef gravy.
This place is near a friend's house and we just discovered it and have been going weekly. (sorry Sake Don for no longer coming in every week, lol - try to alternate now)
Everything has that homemade charm to it. Her husband is back there cooking and the other cooks are always so nice. Frank Davis was a fan of the chicken and I can see why, excellent, crispy perfect and juicy throught.
One thing I alwasy notice is the clealiness of the fried food. With restaurant expeieence I can alwasy spot grease past it's prime. But the fried stuff here is alwasy crisp. Another thing is the ingridents are top notch. She will tell you, she don't advertise, she puts the money in the food. That is plain to see when you try it.
I've yet to try anything that wasn't excellent.
While it's not a James Beard kind of place, it's an excellent greasy spoon.
It's one block off of Central one block away from Jefferson. So basically the intersection of Jefferson and Central. (not the larger Central Poboys on the same street)
This place is one of those places you feel like it's going to suck your first time in, then you talk to the owner and the customers, and see that everyone is a regular, and after your first trip you will be too.
(word of advice, for some specials it's best to call and reserve it in the morning. Like she only makes I think 26-30 Chicken fried steaks from the slab of beef she gets.)
All meats are cut fresh, the deli meats are excellent as well. Everything seafood has been good.
While this place takes cash, they are only open from 11-3 and that's it.
Here is the menu and some food pics.
sorry menu was in my pocket. Lol
chicken fried steak, hard to see in image, but very huge..

As long as you been posting here and you just discovered the place ? I'd say it's a local food board favorite. It's been pimped here for years.

I work around the corner and hit them up at least once a week.

Man, I think the place is great. Been going for years. Everything is very good. Best club sandwich in town and some great fried chicken for the Tuesday lunch special.
ETA: My only complaint is that they can be heavy handed with the mayo. Also, that Monday paneed pork po-boy is great.

Glassman mentioned it to me a while back. I just discovered Kim Anhs a couple of months ago as well. Generally Guilory's has been my go to greasy spoon.
But a good friend of mine lives just across Jefferson from Parenton's so we have been hitting it up. The main reason I hadn't gone sooner was that a customer of mine told me it was no good, and I listened to him.

Never take that dude's advice on food again. The place has been around since 1946. Must be doing something right.

Really like Parenton's. Especially how she runs that football pool in the fall. Great meatball poboy

Those pics have me salivating. Parenton's is great and I learned about it here. I'm way overdue for another visit

Parenton's is great. OP- you try Bevi's yet?
Haven't had the meatball at Parenton's, need to give that one a try.

How many different owners throughout that time span?
