I'm retired from the Army and don't have a degree. With my retirement included, I fall in the top half of the Engineer scale. Guess I just picked a good job. Of course, I'm not 25-29 either.

I know two guys whose highest level of education was graduating from Carencro High School that are making over $300k/yr.

Right?

ETA: also not certain what "health" includes, and why does it top out in the upper 80's? In this only for bachelors degrees?

Lets say the average college degree costs $100,000. Well if you were to invest that at 18 while earning 7% and leave it until you were 65 you would have over 2.4 million. If you earned 10%, which is what the stock market averages over a long period of time you would have over 8.8 million so..........

The exception to the rule, by far.

These studies are so dumb with no control group or comparisons of similarly qualified people. If college did not exist, the same talented people that go to college today would still make much more than their peers.

The talent/work ethic distribution will always be normal.

Great...so where can my 18 year old son find that first 100K? He is going to be thrilled that's all he has to do.

You could join the military (as an officer) with just abt any BA degree.

Not saying there's anything wrong with that, just pointing out. Same with being a popo.

Everyone knows someone who knows someone who got that 100k offer . I've never met them in person though. Although I do know quite a few with around 5 years experience making that kind of money or better. But it's still probably only 10% of grads.

Sad that "Arts" is above "Education"

It's sad that Education is anywhere near the bottom.

My wife graduated from the Art Institute, is 31 years old and a marketing director, and makes a base salary of 65K before bonuses.

Their numbers are really low, I am well above the 75% for Biological Sciences with 15 years of experience and a lot of earning years left.

Cue the people saying it's near the bottom because it's full of incompetent whiners who couldn't do anything else.

Never going to say all of them are, but you are blind if you don't see that they exist. If you just want to collect your 35-45k salary your entire life, teaching isn't a bad place to do it. I've never really heard of many teachers getting fired because they were a "bad teacher". You just have to show up in some cases.

I bet if you paid the property & school taxes for a good school system with exorbitant teacher salaries, you'd feel different. A lot of NY teachers make easily $120k+. Guess who funds it?
