The desert planet isn't Tattooine, it's a planet called Jakku where Rey (Daisey Rider's character) lives. She is a scavanger that lives among Imperial scrap. I'm betting she finds Luke's lightsaber in the beginning of the movie. Leia sends Poe (the x wing fighter) to retrieve it while Finn (storm trooper) winds up in Jakku fleeing from service as a storm trooper. The three are going to have to find Luke and get it back to him. Rey is going to end up being very powerful in the force. Kylo Ren will be pursuing them the entire time.

Hasn't it been confirmed though that Kylo at least starts as a Pilot, particularly Poe's wingman or something? And that he "turns" dark at some point? So he may not be chasing them the whole time.

I don't get this. Why hate something for trying to fit certain kinds of narrative into different mediums. GoT as is would be like a million hours long. Sometimes they just have to cut or change to have it make sense.

As a big fan of the expanded universe, both book and non-book forms, Star Wars is just that, a universe, that can hold a ton of different types of narrative. Were there things to gain from following that universe? Of course. There were tons of great characters, storylines, plots, etc. They had some brilliant stuff in there.

However, maybe they can take shades of the best of that and let us keep exploring the universe. Maybe they can make something completely new that is JUST AS GOOD, and again, let us keep exploring.

Point is, if you're a Star Wars fans, exploring the universe, "new universe," or not, is what the fun part is. Count me in, I'm excited.

If you dont want to watch this movie, you could just write your own version of what you want it to say. No different than all the other fan fiction you've read.

Well that isnt going to happen, so stop whining about it in every Star Wars thread. The books you read were published fan fiction, they aren't the story they are making on the screen. Either let it go and enjoy the movies for what they are and join the discussion or dont let it go and stay out of the threads with your whining about what the movies aren't.
