I would think if the rebels "won" they would get and use the empires superior weapons.. so, it could be them destroying the remaining factions of the empire.

There was some supposed leaked spoilers a little while back that said that the chick and the black dude are taken prisoner on a Star Destroyer, and that they escape in a TIE fighter. So if that spoiler had any grain of truth, I'm guessing that scene is them escaping. But that spoiler may not have been accurate either.

It looked like a low budget made-for-tv movie. I am not a fan of practical effects.

I caught that too. I figured it was alluding to the ability to communicate with his father's spirit through the force.
