There's a huge difference between your high school's girls Bball team and an elite 8 college team. I don't think the girls would win, but the pressure D wouldn't be the reason
I'm not saying a high school team would dominate a women's elite 8 team 80-something to zero. I'm just showing you that the difference between men and women in a sport like basketball is huge.

defensive positioning or rebounding the boys aren't any better
Part of getting into defensive position is speed, right? If you can't stay in front of a ball handler, you're going to get beat every play. If a boys team played up tempo and pressed, they'd dominate the female team.

shite a good bit that dont even make the top 28 could easily beat any womens CBB team

i somewhat figured this would be the response, however i do think that outside of the truly dominant high school teams (landry walkers, scottlandville etc.) teams with real college D1 talent, that a uconn girls team would hang with most hs boys teams

bro like i said before. if the men's team has a 6-6 guy with average male athleticism, the women would be proper fricked
that's not a tough standard and i'm only talking about 1 guy on the team. that guy would DOMINATE any female big

Training. A female player could beat a fantastic athlete who had never been on a basketball court before. Rousey would beat the average man because of her training, and being accustomed to fighting in general. If nothing else, when fighting as the smaller opponent you have ways to counter raw power which doesnt have skilled guidance.
I agree with you for a male athlete with ZERO BB experience, however a fantastic male athlete with very little BB experience would still have a great chance to beat a super skilled female, assuming they could at least hit layups (especially after getting steals and blocking shots). This is an interesting argument and really based on the individual sport and the ratio of skill vs. raw athleticism needed for success. I would put basketball somewhere in the middle, with sprinting on one end (form is really important, but at high levels you have it or you don't) and sports like tennis on the other end.

Assuming we're talking about a good boys HS team, they could basically name the score. I never used to think that, until I got some insight into this exact scenario.
Several years back when I was still at UGA, we had a pretty good women's team at the time. They were ranked probably around 15ish, so while not elite they were definitely a "pretty good" womens team. Good buddy of mine was the 6th man on our HS bball team. About a 6'0 white guy who mostly assisted and played ok defense. Granted our HS team was really good, but the point is this guy was a moderately good HS player with zero chance of playing anywhere in college. Coach Landers ended up getting a group of guys like my friend together to scrimmage the womens team a few times a week. They were all like my buddy, former HS bball players that were moderately good that just ended up going to UGA but would still play ball at the rec center for fun. He said that they used to flat out dominate the womens team. The difference in the speed, skill, agility, size, etc was just night and day. And this was just a rag tag collection of former players.
I have no doubt that a good, high classification HS boys team could run circles around the elite 8 womens teams.

quote:Agreed. A freak male athlete that has never played basketball would be able to compete fairly damn well in a womens college basketball game. However, in sports like golf or tennis a freak male athlete would still get smoked by a woman if they never played

Coming from someone who coaches girls, the guys would win.
Not because of size, or strength, skill, or athleticism, but from sheer speed of game difference.
Boys throw passes much quicker than girls, leading to moving the bll much faster. Boys fast twitch muscles are quicker than girls, leading to getting off shots quicker and closing down a shooter quicker, and reacting to passes quicker
This is the real differences boys and girls bball, even in college you see girls throw these passes all the time that any decent high school boy would pick off with ease. The girls, even the elite ones, make those passes because 90% of the people they play against cant react, move, and engage quick enough to stop it, but boys can
Really well said and completely true

This might sound crazy at first, but lets say Patrick Peterson's twin brother with the exact same size and metrics decided to play basketball, but literally could only make layups and shots within 5 feet of the rim.
Even with his athleticism (99.999% percentile of all humans on the planet) he wouldn't make a D-league roster. However, if he played one season in the WNBA he would win MVP and would probably average a triple-double (points, rebounds, steals, maybe even blocks too).
That is how big the difference in athleticism is between men and women at elite levels of basketball.

It is annoying that they put that boring shite on every channel they can this time of year. It's also ridiculous that they try to play up women's coaching accomplishments as equal or better to men's coaches accomplishements when clearly that isn't the case.
I can watch softball, volleyball, and even sometimes gymnastics, but women's basketball is just terrible.

A decent Louisiana team with average size (6'1-6'5) would beat any girls team by 30+
You could take the top 5 best girls players in the world and there are multiple HS boys teams in Louisiana alone that would beat them by 20+
The speed and quickness is that different.

Top boys team would crush any college women's team.
I think you'd have to go down to top level 8th grade boys before it's a fair fight, and the women likely still lose.

I see a women's team having extreme difficulty just breaking a press.

The girls could prolly hang physically with pre-pubescent boys. It'd be a fair match, though.

Yeah, the length and athleticism would eat them up.

When I played hs ball our girls team had a girl that could start at the 2 for the boys. She was about 5'9 could handle the rock
5'9 2 Guard? She would get owned vs a Top 28 4A OR 5A team. This is not even debatable.

The elite 8 girls teams couldn't get a shot off. That's what yall don't understand. They can shoot better overall probably but how are they gonna get open. Average HS guys are too athletic to not defend easily vs much less talented person
