SPINNING REEL! My dad would sit me on the top of the steps on Lake Ponchartrain with that freaking bait caster and I would untangle a birds nest while he used one of those new fangled Mitchell spinning reels that he saw in France during WW2. I remember seeing the "Made in France" on the side of the reels.
Of course now that I'm a Shimano spin fisherman using braid and fluorocarbon shock leaders and catching more fish. Damn wind knots!
