1)The vast majority of recruits don't flip flop.
The vast majority of assistant coaches aren't bailing on programs.

2)It wouldn't be that hard to implement rules to cut down on flip flopping. However, their is an entire industry that now thrives on recruiting process in its current form.
Just as the entire coaching industry relies on the "coaching" carousal.

3) They are fricking High school kids. Are you really holding High school kids to the same standards as 40+ year old adults.
Each one is looking to better themselves, whether it be a larger contract or playing for a college education.

If you don't place too much importance on football, you don't have to worry about stuff like this.

How could you have rules to cut out flip flopping? You can't outlaw someone changing their mind.
Earlier signing period. Most of the coaches seem to want it.
It feels like there is a lot less flip flopping in CBB and I think the early signing period has something to do with it.

He was committed to OU at one point. He's okay with flipping as long as it benefits him

Watching college football live, they are just ripping him for misleading Weber over running backs coach Drayton's departure, who was the "father-figure" for Weber and the main reason he committed to OSU.
Now the Cass Tech high school coach (Ohio state's Michigan pipeline school), is getting in on the anger.
And NOW, word is breaking that OSU analysts knew for at least a few days before signing day that Drayton was gone, and they were begged not to say anything by the OSU coaching staff.
Will be interesting to see what Weber does in the immediate future.
I just feel bad for the kid.

The Cass Tech coach is being an idiot. His words say he's trying to do the best for Weber but his actions and use of social media show that he is fanning the flames. Now that I have that off of my chest.
What we are hearing is that Ezekiel Elliott is the main reason that Weber committed. The two have bonded.
I have heard nothing about anyone at Ohio State knowing that Drayton was gone ahead of time. The timeline of when he was contacted, when he interviewed and when he was offered and accepted the position has not been published anywhere that I have seen and this issue is a HOT topic on the Ohio State board I frequent. It is also a board with many people on it with their ear to the ground.

A local attorney has offered to represent Weber.
A local attorney believes he can get Weber out of the LOI, based on his status as a minor. He is offering his services pro bono

Let him out AFTER he comes to visit Ohio State's new RB coach.
There's no use taking a guy that doesn't wanna be there.
We have the best running back in the nation coming in next year.

Ohio State hires Tony Alford as assistant coach and running backs coach:
Alford was the director of recruiting at Notre Dame and former player under Urban Meyer at Colorado State.
LINK
Looks like this should put to rest the Mike Weber controversy. Alford recruited Weber while at Notre Dame and they got along really well from all reports.
Great hire.

Jim Harbaugh's tweet currently making the rounds. A not so subtle jab at Urban Meyer over this very issue:

Could they add some type of clause to the LOI that can let the player out of the contract if he can prove a coach lied to him? Say a coach promises that he's not leaving, but after signing day the coach leaves and it can be proven that the coach interviewed at other schools prior to signing day. It could work for other situations as well, such as promising a player the first carry of the season, etc.

Pretty funny tweet when you consider what Weber's mom posted yesterday. From what she said Michigan and their fans have burned a bridge with the Weber family that is beyond repair.

Clear for me the issue I saw about Michigan promising Weber they weren't offering any other Rbs then got the Iowa commit to flip. Weber said that impacted his decision? I know it isn't a coaching change but impactful here if true

Yup, Harbaugh scared. Nothing like a middle school Twitter jab.

I am a Michigan fan. looks to me Webber and his family just stupid.
yeah. you are screwed, but what is the benefit to show your anger in public?
you have signed the letter. it is too late to back out. just go there and perform.

I've heard if OSU will let him out he can do it without recourse. No idea if he wants to though or just was upset, and understandably so
