Horinoya Sushi in Warehouse District I saw recently was ranked as being in the top 36 of all sushi restaurants in the US
Anyone familiar with this place?

First place I ever ate sushi. If that's the WHD what little understanding of neighborhoods I had is gone.

Love the place. Awesome quality .

It seems some people have expanded the WHD to include all of the CBD.
Anyway, I've eaten at Horinoya a couple of times and really enjoyed it. I actually want to educate myself a little more on the finer points of sushi and sashimi.

It's good but don't think I've been since the storm. I wouldn't rank it best in the area, but maybe things have changed.

They have been pretty good for nigiri and sashimi. Not well known for rolls and I have never tried them. I really enjoy Horinoya for nigiri, but definitely not top 36 in the country. Their rice like every other place in New Orleans is subpar.

It's the best in town. The only sushi restaurant that I know of where Japanese people regularly dine.

It is by far my favorite sushi place in NOLA. Quiet, serene dining room, with a few tatami mat private areas in the back. One of the few sushi places around here that regularly features locally caught gulf fish. Lots of "cooked" menu items not easily found elsewhere.
I used to be a regular, then moved. Need to start getting back to it again, as my closer sushi options are completely American and subpar.

Not close to top 36 in the country. It's good though and they have some good traditional Japanese dishes

I'm hooked on Sake Don's and convinced he has the right stuff. Everything there is so good, and it's cheap.
It's where Jo Sepi's used to be on Jefferson at Central. No frills, just good rolls and sashimi.

Gonna have to try that. Parking is pretty easy right on side the building.

+1. Guy has some top shelf sushi.

I really like it, though I don't have much of a reference for its national ranking...
My Japanese buddy, who used to work at Ninja, said that's where he and his other Japanese friends went to eat sushi...

The truest Japanese food in Nawlins. The rest are Chinese/Vietnamese posers showcasing gaudy rolls.

Went to Sake Don for lunch today. Pretty good, I really liked the salmon skin salad. I eat sushi about once a month and it's always at the same place. Think I'll rotate this guy in.

Cool interesting place, but NOT a sushi joint.
They have a sashimi app on the menu and some other sushi place type items, but no nigri sushi and no rolls.
