When this stupid shite got reported at Tennessee we as LSU fans all laughed at how clownish and dumb it really was and made fun of the Vols
He was also calling UT recruits and offering them USC schollies as he and Tosh 3.0 walked out of Knoxville. Not illegal necessarily but pretty shitty.
That said, you don't see a lot of kind, above-board gentlemen winning national titles. Christ, look at all 4 guys in the playoff this year. Not a likeable one in the bunch.

what have you heard about mark helfrich that i don't know?

You know, I've seen him twice on the rubber chicken circuit here in PDX and he's decent speaker; not nearly as abrasive as Saban or Fisher but cocky and a little shitty to anyone stupid enough to ask him a really dumb question. So unlikeable is probably too strong a word.
But by all accounts, he was at least indirectly involved in the bullshite w/ Lyles a few years back. And what we don't know about that clusterfrick is where the story really begins. Not judging-you don't win 10g/year in a power 5 without players. But ultimately, I don't want to see how the sausage is made.

It's great that he has passion and gets pumped up, I don't doubt that LSU may stop laying eggs against inferior competition with him on staff but at the end of the day, we need someone who can coach x's and o's
Because Miles can't do it

thinks you can take me, you come up here and get a piece of me right now."
Surprised he didn't lift his leg and piss on the chairs.

What baffles me is that Ole Miss gave this guy their HC job. LSU will never hire this guy as DC.

USC had just destroyed OU. They were in love with the idea of someone coming from USC. Cutcliffe had no defense and did not recruit well so they thought they were getting a good defensive coach and recruiter as well.

Yeah what LSU needs is a wife beating drunk that curses a lot who is totally lost when it comes to game planning.
Well, we already have a grass eating dufus that possibly curses and is totally lost when it comes to game planning. Adding O couldn't hurt that much.

I remember when that first team meeting at OM went down. There were local news cameras and sports reporters from Memphis was there outside the room. The guys coming out of there were a mix of jacked up, jumping up and down and wide-eyed and shaken like they had just seen a live beastiality show. It was nuts, and made the news outside of just a blurb in the sports update. It was talked about on sports radio here for months.
The guy struggled at Ole Miss, but that was with a completely bare cupboard and having to play the talent he was bringing in immediately. As we saw last year and at Bama in 07, no coach succeeds doing that in the SEC.
As a D Line coach, he has been very successful everywhere he had gone. He also did a pretty solid job in the interim role at USC. Seems like he has learned from mistakes along the way and gotten better.

Wow hope none of that is true because that would seemingly be a problem from a public perception point of view.

Enjoyed the read on Coach O. I like him, I like that he has overcome adversity and like his relationship with his family. Now as a player or father of one, I know that the rah rah, let's fight types are fossils with today's kids. They are way too worldly to buy into it long term. It may work for a short time but the burnout tune out factor kicks in. Look at the successful coaches today Most or all are not in the mold as O. I know from playing that the quiet coach who was a teacher that got on you hard when really needed was the one you listened to.

Bump. This is my favorite O story of all time.

This sounds like something Peter Griffin would do....

I don't care what he does, acts like or how much energy he has or where he's from. His record as a head coach is terrible. Under no circumstances should he be offered the HC position. He is perfect for DL coach.

orgeron sounds like kind of the man to be honest

I think Oregeron has said numerous times that he learned a lot from the Ole Miss coaching stint about his mistakes. I can't see him as a guy that you want to build a program around but damn I hope he stays on the staff next year in some capacity.
