My uncle died in a car wreck and his funeral was 9/11. We walked into the funeral right after hearing the first tower collapse. fricking crazy day.

Witnessed a friend die in a car accident. The funeral was bad, but watching him take his last breath at the scene of the accident was worse.
He was 17 at the time. Still haunts me to this day 15 years later.

Good friends of ours lost their 19 year old son this past Summer. We sat through about an hour of a video playing and replaying in the funeral home before the actual service. That was gut wrenching, then during the service when everyone was allowed to get up and talk my friend, the dad, got up and gave a short talk about his son and thanking everyone for coming. I just thought I was out of tears. Holy crap that was tough.

My 13 yo best friend at the time who was killed in a hunting accident. Looking back, I just clearly didn't know how to process it.

Seeing my grandfather dead in the E.R. & then the funeral.
Being in the military on 9/11. Being dismissed from training and ordered to sit and watch the news feeds.
Watching a shipmate who I knew drown just as the S.A.R. helicopter got overhead of him.

I was initially going to say the Bonfire memorial service but I can think of another...
My neighbor lost his 17 year old son in an auto accident. The buy was late to school and ran a light and he got t boned.
I've never heard a man wail with such sorrow. It deeply affected me and I still find myself thinking of that moment and funeral.
I didn't get it, but now I have two kids I get it and pray every day for their safety.
That wail haunts me.

I am crying from reading everyone else's stories.
One of my worst was a memorial day or fourth of july church service when my husband was in Afghanistan. I was crying so hard pastor came down from the pulpit to hug me. It was awful. All the children cry I cry I the I mom and dad the day the buses pulled away from the national guard unit to take them to base was no picnic either.
Last call at police funerals gets me every time.
Cousins who pass away unexpectedly at 23 and 36 who you are close like brothers and sisters.

I was part of a full honors ceremony team when I was in the army. the saddest for me was doing a heroes ceremony for three of our infantry men in my brigade while in Afghanistan. being a pall bearer for my grandfathers funeral three months ago while watching his full honors ceremony since he was in the navy was sad as well

A good friend lost his wife, child, and mother in a car accident when a drunk driver crossed over the median and hit them head on. They were on their way home from a day at the zoo. That funeral was just gut wrenching. Seeing him sitting there with this just shattered look of shock and horror on his face is something I'll never forget.

I usually don't get emotional. I can't remember the last time I cried.
But, easily the most sorrow, accompanied by tears, rage, and hope (hope, fore I knew the fury of hell that would soon reign down on them) I have ever felt
was when a group of scumbag piece of shite - words that would get me banned for racism - individuals flew 2 commercial airliners into the WTC in NYC on 9/11.
Even to this day when I watch a memorial/footage, etc. I tear up with rage.
