Was told tonight #Michigan officials offered David Cutcliffe their job but the #Duke coach turned it down. Times sure have changed.

If true that is a pretty big black eye for Michigan.

I like Cutt but damn he is past his prime and has such a low wow effect. Good coach, but he will retire at Duke IMO

Cutcliffe has health issues.

Duke is a low-stress gig. It's a hoops school. He can win 8 games a year there, and it's considered lagniappe. They're happy with it. It's the perfect spot for him.

So they offered Cutcliffe before Miles, wow. Not sure I buy it, but funny if true.

Man on man...turned down for Duke.

FOR DUKE!

How times have changed. This has got to be the low point for Michigan football.

My guess is that they asked if he would interview, and he declined. Dude is happy at Duke with low expecations. You don't offer a guy like Cutcliffe without an interview.

Zero chance that he was actually "offered their job".

Most likely just gauging interest.

No way they offered him the job. I do think they may have gauged interest?

Even if this is just working their way through the list, the Michigan rebuild is gonna require a younger HC's energy, stamina, and patience, to build it back up.

That their powers-that-be would consider Cut, doesn't signify Mich AD smarts nor touch with their reality imho. Great HC but not a Mich/Big-10 fit. Cut has health issues, comes off slightly older than actual age, is inherently southern, and not of the right drawl, persona,etc..

Too caught up on character man, Michigan man,etc..mantras, rather than right fit imho.

I don't think Cutcliffe turned them down because of any issues within their program. He's getting older, has some health issues and is at a low stress job at a great school. Michigan is the complete opposite of that and expects championships. Cutcliffe is happy where he is and wants to retire at Duke a legend. If he was younger and in better health, he would have absolutely taken the job though.
