I've decided I am a mediocre cook and I am resigned to it.
I can make some good things from time to time, but I make some clunkers too.
Anyone else willing to fess up?

I'm not great. Im not bad either. That puts me right at the mediocre mark on the cooking spectrum.

Mediocre would be an improvement for me.

I would say I am mediocre and make some above average stuff at times.

I am mediocre to the max. I know enough to feed myself, but I'm better at ordering at restaurants.

They've been trying to get into my head for quite some time, but it ain't happenin'...
I can boil water with the best of them.

The mediocre cooks I know are the most unwilling to admit it.

I make better cornbread than anyone I know.
I love my grilled cheese and Campbell's Tomato soup.
That is all I will admit

it's all relative really. i'm mediocre as shite compared to people who have been cooking for 30 years, but I'm a lot better than probably most people my age just because i cook more than most people my age

I know how to cook without a recipe and I cook many tasty things. I can cook a pretty good omelette or eggs over easy. But when it comes to sweets and baking other than pizza, I just don't have much experience.
I don't know all the French sauces and I can't cook any Indian or Asian food - I just don't understand the spices very well. I don't like to cook like a fancy chef - I just want to cook something others and I will enjoy.
I like to try to duplicate restaurant dishes or grocery products I like. I've done that for Cousin's Creole Tomato Dressing and Jack Miller's BBQ Sauce. I'm working on Manuel's Hot Tamales.
I've learned a ton from Alton Brown, Cook's Country and America's Test kitchen

There are certain dishes that I cook really well, but I'm not very adventurous in trying new dishes, so I guess that makes me average.

I'm a shitty cook compared to a good one. But I'm a lot better than a bad one. So I reckon mediocre would be accurate.

I make the best scrambled eggs on the face of the earth.

I think saying I'm mediocre would be giving myself too much credit. I do have things I make well. Mostly things that are made outside, involve open flames, and beer.

I don't have good technique, but there are some things I do very well. I guess it averages out to mediocre.
