I know that we don't always have good cop stories.
This is pretty cool. I love when kids with illnesses get a wish granted.

J.J. Walker, an 11-year-old fighting a serious brain cancer called diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, or DIPG, got the full treatment from troopers at state police headquarters. He received an LSP Commission and had a trooper uniform outfitted with a gold badge.
Troopers took J.J. on a vehicle pursuit and traffic stop and helped him perfect his firearms skills. They also took him on a trip to the state capitol and Governor Bobby Jindal's office

But J.J. isn't the only lucky boy this week. As part of its LSP Grant-A-Wish Program, state police this weekend also plan to grant a 12-year-old's wish of a trip to Disney World.

Did he get to shoot a dog, pass out inspection sticker tickets, or other important law enforcement tasks?
If not, not legit.

Kudos to LSP. They deserve appreciation and reverence on this one.

can't wait for all the "kid cops are assholes" threads

Other than the sticker checkpoints, LSP really does the best job with handling traffic stops.
I want to say 100% of the time I have been pulled over by LSP they wrote a LOWER speed on the ticket than I was actually doing.

Meanwhile BRPD is being arrested for rape and NOPD isn't investigating their reported sex crimes. What a difference in agencies.

I find the troopers to be hit or miss. Some are assholes, some are fine.

I've said it before, LSP has been the most courteous, professional LEOs I've dealt with. And I've usually dealt with them as a law violator. Hard to criticize them.

If the kid beats cancer, those cops will shoot his dog.

Edited so my snarky comment isn't misconstrued as a jab at the kid in article.

I never feel harassed by them. Kenner totally different story. Last week I went for a ride in a friend's new (to him) G8. We got pulled over and the cop gave me a ton of shite because I didn't have an ID on me.
He kept asking to pat me down and I kept refusing, I gave my name though but he was upset that I didn't know my ID number.
I kept asking whats the deal and was told Kenner police have to do a background check on ever person they interact with in a stop.
(last thing I need is some stupid 2002 party ticket to pop up again)

Honestly I've never had an issue with LSP or ebr sheriffs. They've let me off multiple times and have been nice.
BRPD is the only department I've ever had negative interactions with

Kenner and Harahan cops are the worst in the area.
Definitely agree that State Troopers aren't bad at all and have bigger fish to fry usually.

Guess I've been lucky. Never a bad experience with LSP. Same with EBRSO. City cops are a different story.

I haven't had too much interaction with Troopers but by all accounts they conduct themselves as professionals and treat people with respect.
