It's just as possible to win elsewhere. If he leaves to a big market, other good players will come with him - like when Lebron went to Miami. If I'm not gonna win, I'd rather not win in LA or my hometown (DC) than OKC.
Durant & Westbrook are both 26, fwiw

Doesn't the new TV deal allow for teams to throw a lot more money at players currently on their roster.

Could make a big difference. Same with AD. Not saying either stay but it will be hard to leave that much money.

Just a thought.

Nothing that Durant has said or done makes me think he will leave OKC. The media is trying to drum it up, but I just don't see it.

He will go home to play for the Wizards. The Wizards already have his HS coach on the staff.

He spent nearly the entire offseason training in LA, so there's that

Do you realize how many players go to different areas to train in the offseason?

Extremely common.

Yeah, for the players that don't already live in the fun places to live

Durant is my favorite current player and I hope he stays and wins where he is. Unless, of course, he come to the Pels and then I wouldn't blame him

theres no right way to leave. Leave without notice? LBJ is a bad guy! Notify team you want out? Carmelo is selfish! Tell team you want out if they can't surround you better, then reconsider? Dwight is immature!

There's just not a good way to leave. At least not for megastar players in their prime

The starting 5 for the Spurs in 2016-2017

KD
Leonard
KT
Parker
Timmy (in case you didn't know he really is a zombie)

I disagree somewhat. With Lebron going home it takes the heat off of KD for wanting to go home too if he wants to. He won't take nearly as much heat as he would've had Lebron not paved the way.

Lebron went to a team that already had a top 10 player and another star willing to follow them. Completely different than going to a Lakers team with nobody. We'll see how the landscape is in a year and a half but he would be taking a huge step back if he leaves okc imo.

Edit: people are making too big of a deal about living in okc. These guys are in and out of their town every week during the season. Kd doesn't seem like the type to hit the nightlife hard during the season

KD would never take the backseat to Leonard

KD isn't leaving OKC. If he does go anywhere it will be to the Wiz.

Can we stop talking about the Lakers please. The franchise is an absolute disaster right now. Plus OKC is already getting nearly the same amount of national TV games.

Only worry is that OKC's defiance to go over the tax line to win a championship pushes him out the door, but they've proven they are very good in the draft. Still a very young team.

All it takes is one superstar to turn it around. It will happen someday, unfortunately. Love could bolt to LA after this season, KD could follow the year after, who knows.

But then what about the Clippers? Would it be possible to have Griffin, Paul, & KD on the same team? Something tells me Ballmer would be willing to spend a lot of extra cash if he has to.

A max contract is really meaningless to KD when he has a $300 million deal with Nike on top of all his other endorsements.
