If you believe that, you're dumb.

Progressive policies always breed discontent among voters. Reagan was the last President to be followed by a President from the same party. The rest after him were progressives and caused congress to switch to the opposition party followed by the next President.

The only consistent thing about the American people is that they are fickle. With the American appetite for change and tendency to hate whoever's in charge, having only one party in charge would create a huge vaccuum. It is impossible.

It will continue to oscillate between D and R until a true conservative gets in. He or she will buy a successive presidency for his or her party. It will be up to the successor to not screw it up.

It took too long for conservatives to get on board. By the time it became obvious it would be Romney/McCain/Huck, it was too late to get the momentum up.

If the Repubs pull off wins to take over the Senate with Romney stumping in all these races will give him the party clout and organization for a winning run for the nomination. Jeb and Christie have no shot; Rand and Cruz will have an uphill battle to garner enough conservative vote to beat out Romney.

The primaries won't drag out as it did in 2012. And in the end conservatives/ tea party will be unified with Romney in defeating whatever democrat challenger comes in 2016.

I voted for Romney and was devastated when he lost.

Mostly devastated because of who got re-elected.

And we've been paying for it ever since.

Class guy, was just too "stiff" in front of the cameras and microphones to get his true personality and inner fire across to the voters.

I think his true personality came across just fine. That's why he lost the election.

I went to 5 of his events, including 3 of the "informal variety", one a spaghetti supper in my small town, where it was more like a large family gathering than a campaign event. He was laughing and cutting up and completely in his comfort zone as he moved among the tables. Hardly any press at that event and he carried himself completely differently than he did in debates and speeches. I also know several people in Wolfeboro who have talked to him regularly over a period of several years and all say he's as down to earth as one can get in that setting.

Agree, but he held back, and didn't go for the throat. His staying above board and keeping it classy didn't represent the fight conservative wanted against a total incompetent rival..

I think that's a fair assessment. I also think that the republicans would be wise to not castrate each other again during the republican primary debates. They gave the democrats plenty of free rocks to throw during the last election.

I threw Pence's name out there in this forum a few months back. One thing for sure is if he does run, he will get TONS of campaign cash in the early going, thanks to a couple of guys named Charles and David.

Do you realize how pathetic that sounds? First Mac was never a conservative. Maverick, etc. Mac was practically out of the race by August 2007. Staff resigning, etc.

Huck: that is even sadder.

Romney may have many talents, but he is not a good politician.

Even though there were a number of things I disagreed with him on, I will always believe that Romney would have been a tremendous President.

After watching the Mitt documentary on Netflix I was infuriated for about a week that he didn't let his personality shine through as much as he should have.

The election was about party platforms, not personality. You may have luck in 2016 though as HRC can be pretty divisive, even in her own party.

If he gets there, we will get a spring in our step and snap back for a little bit before the demographics take complete control and we go down hard.

Sorry, but that is loser talk. There is no reason Hispanic immigrants could not vote (eventually) republican. Sure we might have to wander the wilderness for a bit for our dumbass nativist wing; but:

1. There are plenty of pro-immigrant conservatives (like me)

2. There are plenty of former immigrant groups that vote conservative now when they originally voted democratic (southern european and asian are the two groups I am mostly thinking of).

Republicans should be the party of ideas and those ideas can transcend demographics.

Romney either didn't know how to fight dirty or wasn't willing to do so. I suspect the latter. In fact, I'm concerned that if he did win the White House this time he would be a little too optimistic about getting his agenda done and be used as cannon fodder for the 2018 election.

We don't need a politician.

We need (needed at the time and now) someone who is actually competent and can run a country. Most politicians do not fit the bill.

I like how prophetic you are, yet you forget that we already have a barometer measurement from what your "guy" has already done.
